B-239 "No RPM" in Pilot's Notes: What does this mean?
« on: July 09, 2021, 03:58:40 PM »

Hi all,

I'm new to IL-1946 and am trying to learn how to fly the Brewster Buffalo properly (I've read that the Finland B-239 missions are a good place to start). I've been looking at the aircraft guide that contains the Pilot Notes for each plane, but I'm confused over the RPM info for the Buffalos. The guide states that there is "No RPM gauge" for the following:

Combat Engine Setting: No RPM gauge
Best Cruise: No RPM gauge
Economy Cruise: No RPM gauge

Was this  just an oversight for whoever wrote the manual or did they not model it in the game? Were there variants without the gauge (I assume that the gauge would be pretty important)?

The legend for the Buffalo cockpits does show an RPM indicator, so I assume that the guide is just incorrect. If so, are the optimal RPMs for combat, cruise, and economy available elsewhere?

Thanks in advance!

Thanks Mike,

Strange how that was left out of the version that came with my copy of the game. Much appreciated!

The cockpits of the B-339 (GB) - B-239 (Fi) - F2A-2 (US) have been redone by TT.
And it seems to me that they are no longer as indicated in the document distributed by Mike.

Thanks Epervier. I wouldn't have found that on my own. I appreciate the help.
