Help on making ships MOD
« on: April 30, 2021, 03:26:33 AM »

Hi all
I learned how to make building and runway MODs through KevinP‘s great tutorial these days, so I think I already have a few basic understanding of the IL2 files.
But when I downloaded some individual ship MODs and tried to reverse-engineer their MOD structure from them, I found some files that I couldn't understand now.
So…… I mean, do we have some complete tutorial for ships or vehicles MOD? Or what do these documents represent?
Thank you all in advance~

I wonder if I understood your question correctly...
Those weirdly named files are the compiled Java Classes that allow ships to sail (or to use them as stationary).
There may also be, possibly, the new Classes for the arming of ships...

Ummmmm, maybe I should ask in a simpler way.
What should I do after I built the ship‘s 3D model...?

1- Considering that you have already exported it in the format of IL-2... test it! By naming its file with the same name as a ship of the same kind already existing in the game!
2- create the Java Classes for this new ship, make the data to add in the ini files (ships.ini - chief.ini - stationary.ini - technics.properties...). If you don't know how to make Java Classes, you have to find a "Java coder" partner. Almost all mods are a team effort. A Java coder, a 3D specialist, a texture specialist, a sound specialist, an FM specialist (for planes)...

Okay...... So, is every ship has a individual java class?
What exactly for this Java class going to write?
I had learned a little programming before. I don't know if I can research and build the MOD myself

There is nothing special about a Class-Navire.
You just have to respect the category of the ship (cargo ship/war ship/aircraft carrier/...).
You can use an existing class from another mod as an example.
