Signs reading
« on: April 05, 2021, 02:19:23 AM »

Hi all;

        I got this pop up sign while on flight using BAT Blue Edge and I just want to make sure if my reading is right[pic].
   The labels I made is quite understandable I guess. BTW thanks for the right answer.

This is a very well made and visually interesting guide that really should be available in the modpacks that use this vectoring system (BAT, UP3.3, etc). It would definitely resolve a bit of confusion and improve gameplay immersion.

Well done Sergeant!

Thanks for the confirmation because the BAT version I'm in has disabled the enemy icons and its the interesting way to vector locate the enemy

Good graphic.  Yes the GCI is a good representation of Ground Control giving compass bearings as per the map vs the pilot's position (not his heading).   So using the graphic, even if the Spitfire is pointed to 270 (or to exaggerate the point....is spinning in place), the 81 degree bearing still applies as to where the bad guy is (at that particular point in time relative to the Spitfire and map position).

In real-life (e.g. the Battle of Britain), I believe it was slightly different in that the pilot would be given a VECTOR heading (where the enemy will be) in order to intercept as opposed to a bearing (where the enemy is).   The Ground Control knows the general heading/speed of the bad guys and therefore would try to give a vector to the good guys to anticipate an intercept.    In the game we are left to do that particular calculation/guess ourselves.  ;)
