kawanishi E15K - Shiun - seaplane
« on: January 30, 2021, 12:35:57 PM »

Good evening Gents.
Several months ago i have found a post about this rare IJN seaplane.
In that post i found the skin but no about the mod itself.
Indeed the war story of this seaplane was not of success but technically speaking it was revolutionary. I mean the two counter-rotating propellers, the detachable floats and so on.
I think this plane will complete the japanese seaplane hangar and included on SAS for its technical particularity-
So, i wonder if someone has notice about this seaplane . I wonder if it could be possible obtain the mod from a Kyofu Rex mod.

I could have sworn I had this in game at one time but I cannot find it on any of my hard drives. I remember having issues with the main float breaking on take off so I'm pretty sure I had this.

I still have the 3d files from 101 if anyone wants to make it.

+1  ;) seriously? ... don't you ever get bored ?

I think there was a Zero mod with a similar float arrangement once IIRC.

It is usually on the internet a quick signal of support and agreement. However sometimes just virtue signaling.

Thank you for this fascinating post. The video of the dive to the Shiun was awesome to watch, with the seat intact and the rear gun still moving. Wow.

Hallo,
thanks for Your appreciation.
In that lagoon, in those waters a lot of relicts are  like  a underwater museum.

Best regards

taking my life in my hands....
rather than suggest another bizarre & rare type, how about checking among some of the more common aircraft ?
Not sure how accurate it is, but the web-site https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_most-produced_aircraft shows all aircraft produced in 5000 or more examples.
Looking thru this list, and restricting it to war-related aircraft, the one that stands out like the proverbial is the British trainer "Airspeed Oxford", or "Ox-Box", with over 8000 produced.
I had thought the C-46 might be on the list too - but alas: only about 3200 produced.
best wishes, f_f
ps  I must here declare my vested interest:  a [derelict] Oxford was the first aircraft I ever climbed into - at age 7 !
