Thanks to SAS~Storebror and his generous donation of all of the simmerspaintshop templates, I have finally been able to make a skin for the Ta-152C. I know it's pretty simple but I'm pretty pleased with how it turned out.
BackgroundThe year is 1945 and the tide of the war is beginning to make a terrifying shift. Despite the Germans beginning to change the tide thanks to the collapse of the Soviet Berlin offensive and the Allied evacuation over the Rhine, they are still under threat from Allied bombing which is now heavily targeting the airfields as many of Germany's new underground factories are near impervious to air attack. Some of the airfields that are being targeted the most are those of JV-44. The Allied high command is hoping that by killing many of Germany's aces, it may help damage the German peoples' morale enough to possibly give the Allies a chance to breathe and maybe even a chance retaliate. However, the Germans soon realized the Allied initiative and proceeded to upgrade the aircraft tasked with protecting the fighters stationed at these airfields. Several planes were introduced into service, such as the FW-190D-15 and the Ta-152C. The catch to this new plan was that in order to speed up delivery, many planes would have be delivered without paint and many would only receive anti-glare on the cowling as undercarriage stripes had to applied in the field. By May, many pilots in "Galland's Flying Circus" had quickly become experts of their trade, pilots like Reinhold Stockhausen. Stockhausen had enlisted in the Luftwaffe in December of 1944, and in early 1945, had received his first baptism of fire where he quickly proved himself as an able pilot, who could maintain a cool head under pressure. Following several months of grueling frontline combat, Stockhausen was offered the chance to join JV-44 as a member of unit's jet protection squadron which he quickly accepted. When he got to his designated airfield, Münich Riem, he found himself being assigned to a brand new Ta-152C. After a short training period, Stockhausen would get his first mission on May 17th, in which he performed admirably, claiming 2 P-47s in the engagement while him and his group successfully protected the new 262 HG IIs during there lengthy take-off sequence. Stockhausen would continue to serve in the protection squadron, earning himself another 43 kills, until the unit was disbanded in mid-1947 following the perfection of the turbojet engine, and solving of the numerous Jumo turbo lag issues. After this, Stockhausen decided to become a regular fighter pilot in JV-44 and would fly his 262 HG-V to victory in the American campaign racking another 34 kills to his name. Today, his famous Ta-152C "Black 5" can be seen in the Münich Aviation Musuem where it is currently undergoing restoration to its former glory.DownloadPack includes "Black 5", a generic, and a non-marked version -
