Levasseur PL7
« on: October 18, 2020, 04:02:48 AM »

The first real French torpedo plane was the Levasseur PL7. A sweet plane, implementing the classical Levasseur concept of "boat plane" - the fuselage was built so that in case of malfunction while flying over the sea, the plane could jettison its landing gear (here press the Gear down key to do that) and land on the sea. However, subsequent  take off was impossible as the propeller got damaged in the process. Try it, it's quite fun.
I made this mod using original plans from Levasseur company and some quite good photographs of the cockpit and instruments panel
Two things remain to be done on this plane:
1) writing the java to activate the cursor of the torpedo sight (the formula is ready but I was simply not in the mood to touch the java )
2) ask a java guru what stands behind the behaviour of the gear when jettisonned - I took the java method from the Ju87C and don't really like the  result - in reality the gear was not destroyed but dropped in  a single unit - maybe it would have been better and easier to model it as a dummy fuel drop tank, but I had a number of reasons not to do so.

As usual you'll need the new French Arms pack:

Link for the plane:

Air.ini additions:
Levasseur_PL7     air.PL7 1                            NOINFO  f01   SUMMER

Feel free to finalize and upgrade this plane where needed.
Enjoy

The plane has been tested in 4.122 modact 5.30, so will probably run smoothly also in BAT

Very cool!
Big honors to such modders as you, who can just take and make an entire plane, and not even one!
Thanks a lot and more inspiration! ;)
So look, such assemblies as BAT will grow into a whole encyclopedia of aviation, and a simulator rolled into one! :)

I checked it in BAT WAW, everything works, only on PL7 and PL15, the instrument illumination does not work, and the choice of weapons is empty.
And also on PL7 and PL15, you need to shift the position of the exhaust gases .. In PL10 and PL101, this is all right, except weapons..
And I also noticed that if you press the "look through the scope" button, the camera goes far beyond the 3D model ..
And so everything is wonderful! Thanks a lot again! ;D

I'm running BAT 1.1 and for me also PL7 and PL15 are showing not weapons in QMB (not only PL10/101).
LATE 298 works fine also for weapons.

make sure that the folder of the weapons pack is called _Arms_French_1918_1943 and is present in the same BAT mod folder as the planes (for instance #WAV)

DreamK,

Thank you very much for these wonderful (and rare) planes.  And very good to see your interwar and WW2 projects appearing again.

Cheers,

Yes DreamK,
the weapons pack is installed correctly in WAW/BAT folder.
But no weapons showing in QMB  :(

Moi aussi. No arms choices are showing in the QMB and FMB loadout menus.   If it means anything, unlike the Late298 plane, there are no files or sub-folders in the Arms Folder under the Levasseur PL7 3DO Folder.

Thanks for these planes, and the cockpits are terrific.

Ok Solved! The java for the bomb racks and the Darne mgs were lacking in this pack (they were in another plane folder in my 4.12 install)
So, add these folders and it will be ok in BAT:

A excellent collection of French types Dreamk, thank you very much for all of them, really appreciated. 8)

I had the same armaments issue as others, only the Late298 actually showed a load out, will add your new links and report back. ;)

Take care and be safe.

Wishing you all the very best, Pete. ;D

Awesome set of new machines, Dreamk! :D

About the weapons, there is a fuze.class in your pack which is in conflict (as in not the exact same content) as the current BAT fuze.class. Is this class in any way very special?  Could it break compatibility of other bomb fuses from other weapons packs?
I usually simply drop such conflict classes from my package.
