Thanks - no hard feelings.
You know we're just armchair pilots in the end anyway.
Life doesn't depend on this, that's the good news.

Mike may have a different view of it, but I personally think that the P-38 is just fine in BoX. I don't remember of any complaints from any side. The Jug and the Mustang are different due to their weapon configuration, but for me the Lightning is an effective heavy fighter and an excellent ground attacker airplane at the same time. There's always room for improvement, of course, but in case of the Lightning I don't remember any serious request for any.

Thank you. I'm just "scared" by this 0.5" issue. It would be a shame to find oneself in 1 cannon fighter. Kind of Yak-1 but no ShKAS.  :-X On the other hand...the opportunity to polish the shooting skills...

The P-38 has 1 overmodelled 20mm cannon and 4 undermodelled .50cal guns. The sum result is fairly close to what one might expect. All in the nose, so once you hit, you hit with all. Mike is right that the P-38 is a bit too good, but heck, I can live with it. It can't be compared to a Yak in flight performance, but it's superior to it in lethality. And in addition it can carry bombs equal to the bombload of a Pe-2. For a ground pounder it's pure porn.

Sorry that I have to continue rambling here, but the latest dev diary is just hilarious:

Quote
In the next update, you'll see the terrain roughness that previously was modeled physically and affected the tank movement is now visible and have a realistic size and layout. This also affects the aircraft in case of an emergency landing in a field. The second addition is the set of newly developed gunfire visual effects for the detailed tanks - their guns and machine guns. Before all the gunfire effects looked similar, but now they'll differ depending on the muzzle brake and the power of the gun. We plan to do the same for the aircraft guns of the planes in development and later on for the previously released ones.

The tanks are primary for now, but at least cfs part of the game can expect improved roughness of the ground in case of an emergency landing on a field ... that's all right, you surely don't have anything more pressing to do ...

But there's more good news: The .50 cals are still going to be nerfed, but at least the muzzle flash is going to look threatening now! Hell yeah!
Then again, if this is coupled to the power of the gun ...

Hell yeah, let's match the muzzle flash and the gun's power. Hope they simulate the shock wave as well.

I can't believe it, I thought we were memeing here, then I browsed the actual form...

What the actual fuck..? PS no SAS/FAC member is on the score list anymore, not even me... What a waste of money, could have bought at least 2 OEM BMW sensors for that much money... Then more for how much I paid to upgrade my rig... Ah well.

Don't give up on CLoD/Tobruk guys...it is very good. If the community could get behind it, it could become the successor to 1946.

Sorry to say but this time I'm gonna wait for it to happen before I jump the train.
I've been a CloD'der from day 0 and followed the development, including TeamFusion's beginnings, up to and including Blitz!
To me CloD is a Zombie game, it's simply undead.
TF is putting so much efforts in, but they're stuck in the little space left by 1C, read: Whatever might spark future interest for BoX is out of reach for CloD.
They might be able to spawn a few more theatres like Battle of Poles, Battle of Australia and Battle of Canada, but that's about it.

The best thing that could happen to CLoD/Tobruk would be if Team Fusion releases another add-on or two, upgrades the terrain, weather, lighting, textures, clouds, adds vr (i.e. all planned to be added and released in 2020/2021), and then official development stops and unofficial modding begins. If that were to happen, would SAS get on board?

Simple answer is: Yes.
The answer is particularly simple because it will never happen.

As long as CloD makes money, TF would be nuts to make it moddable in a way similar to 1946 - and any other "limited" modding would probably not be acceptable.
As soon as CloD stops making money and there's no indication of becoming profitable again, TF might stop developing it further, but they're not entitled to disclose it to the wider public.
That'd be 1C's thing to do, and it's the last thing they'll do after hell froze over.

That being said, I'm afraid that as much trust I have in TF's skills, I strongly doubt that any contemporary gaming technology - be it DX12 or VR - can be brought to CloD at any reasonable cost or effort.

Interesting thread. As a Ubizoo and RoF forum veteran (I never did take the plunge with BoX), it's a shame to see how things have panned out. I might, very occasionally, fire up CLoD Blitz - but, despite all its' shinyness, it just doesn't do it for me. I have very little interest in online play, and feel that I'm far from alone in that respect. Oh well, for me and my now aging rig, there's more than plenty of life in the old 1946 dog yet - thanks to you guys.
