It's all fine and exactly as it should be.
Has to be true, cause Jason Williams just said so on Facebook:
Quote
We have addressed the .50s and all of our weapons several times over the years. We don't ignore anything and our years of work prove it, but if you're rude about it we will ignore you. The .50s are not nerfed they just aren't to your liking. We are focused on other tasks at the moment. Right now my engineers are focused on new planes and fuel systems. I do not have a large team that can work on multiple revisions of old features endlessly and new features at the same time. And after we updated the weapons last time MANY more users are happier than they were before the update so not everyone shares your opinion.

Just for interest

The 50 cal was not a glorious air to air weapon, but it was far from ineffective, especially when 6 or 8 of them were joined together. Their main attributes were reliability, low weight, easy maintenance, and standardization of parts and ammo production.

You should hear the nay sayers.
The fanboy crowd over at il2sturmovik.com concludes the following:
  • .50s are all crap.
  • AP ammo shot at a target from 6 o'clock will just ricochet.
  • AP ammo shot at a target at any other angle will simply punch a neat hole of it's diameter and not cause any further damage at all.
  • The only two reasons for the U.S. to stick to their cal .50s were:
    * They couldn't get the 20mm guns to work
    * They've stockpiled all the .50 ammo already

You're still a non-believer?

Oh... forgot to say:
The latter (stockpiled ammo) was the reason for the U.S. to completely miss the ingenuity of HE fillers.
Since whereas the cal .50 rounds just punch said holes, this is what a single round's MG131 1.4 grams of PETN filler are supposed to do, and they do deliver (in IL-2 GB that is):

I know, I am very upset about the state of this game. Mike is right it seems to get worse each patch. The time dilation is almost unbearable now too. I wish we had a good modern sim...

A few days ago, in the regarding complaint threads over at il2sturmovik.com, common sense of well respected long-term members became that there is indeed something wrong with AP ammo in IL-2 GB.
Furthermore, Jason's post from December, stating that they'd look at the DM and ammo issues "later" was always used as proof for dev awareness of the issue and that they'd eventually be fighting it.
People were asked to file a properly formatted bug report in the regarding forum section...

Then the devs sent out their cohorts, merged many complaint threads until everything was just one big mess.
Jason replied on Facebook that there is no issue:
Quote
We have addressed the .50s and all of our weapons several times over the years. We don't ignore anything and our years of work prove it, but if you're rude about it we will ignore you. And after we updated the weapons last time MANY more users are happier than they were before the update so not everyone shares your opinion.

Now QB.Shallot, a "Founder" of this game having pre-purchased lots of it's modules and stuff, makes this perfectly reasonable bug report:

And this is what the game's lead developer replies:

In other words: Fuck off! We couldn't care less for your fucking complaints.

The devs really seem to believe that 1.4 grams of PETN in a 13mm round would regularly cause fatal damage of 300mm diameter to aircraft skins, and they truly can't distinguish .303 from .50 holes and last but not least, they completely ignore the fact that such an AP round will either travel through the airplane, causing a much bigger exit wound or - alternatively - spend their pretty significant kinetic energy on vital structures and/or equipment inside the aircraft, causing catastrophic damage within.

They don't give a flying fuck.
And that means: Nothing's gonna change.
IL-2 Great Battles will stay a fuckfest for wannabe Hartmanns.
The devs fell in love with that crowd.

We'll see.
Two devs unveiled their rather unorthodox views based on questionable evidences, and from this point on they are on the defensive because they have the burden of proof and can be cross-examined at the same time.

One of the best virtues of Team Fusion is that they encourage dialogue and listen to the community. If only they had more team members and financial support.
