Came across a Bearn model while scanning the WoWS ship list.
Nice looking "ugly" ship.  Not sure its worth devoting much time to though?

Historically, it was only used to transport aircraft. It was therefore not used in a single battle of WW2!
After the war, she operated briefly in Indochina, then spent the rest of her career in Toulon as a barrack ship for submariners.
Personally I don't find it interesting...  :-X

My French CZ 38 campaign would use it in a heartbeat!!! I'm using a RN stand in at the moment. In fact, I'd re-issue the two existing ones to include it. I've either included the Fantastique in a campaign, or have it slated for inclusion.

cheers

Unless you want to start a what-if story ... :

The French bought a bunch of the Helldivers too but these were held up in the States and then "stored" on the Carrier Bearn which itself got stranded in the Carribean and could not cross the Atlantic anymore to deliver its load when France fell to the Germans...

By the way, at arrival in Martinique on board of Bearn there were not only Curtiss but also 200 tons of Gold evacuated from France ...

well, give if a squadron of V-156s and a few fighters and you have a nice addition to the game for some early or pre war what-ifs;
also, we have the HMS Hermes in game, a rather insignificant ship as well, so if we have that, why not also the Bearn ? :)

In my humble opinion, i agree with what Epervier said.

The Béarn did not see any relevant service in WWII (and even during the Indochina War, its participation was tiny, to say the least)

It would be more interesting if it were developed and modded to Il2 La Galissonnière-class cruisers, the L'Adroit-class destroyers or if u want the big stuff, the Richelieu-class battleships.

(I don't know which of these already have a ready-made model in WoWS that can be converted to the Il2, so it would be just suggestions  ;D)

Super aircraft carrier for its time, certainly too slow in 1939 to keep up with modern ships. With the "Commandant Teste" hydroplane carrier, they were the only aircraft carriers in the French fleet.
They did not fight and may not deserve their place in the historical list of ships in IL2. But if, as Jacques Sapir or Jean-Pierre Pécau wrote in their respective Uchronies "1940 AND IF FRANCE HAD CONTINUED THE WAR", the Bearn would not have played a more important role and above all that of missions to be added to the long list of those already made by our dear enthusiasts of IL2 and aviation.
I did try to convert a Bearn from "Silent Hunter" but my modest knowledge and my health condition made me give up. I hope that dear Ashhouse will not be convinced to abandon the Bearn, this beautiful jewel of the Royal.
Thank you very much for your work dear Ashhouse.

Hi ashes

I see you continue bringing new ships to us. Thank you for your work to make old good il2 better and nicer. Are french battleships like Richelieu or Dunkirq on to do list?

;D  Ciao Asheshouse, are Contre-torpilleur Guepard and battlecruiser Strasbourg still in your shipyard or have you decided to wipe them out? Pure curiosity ... and a pinch of greed!   ;)

Just kidding!
I'll settle for whatever you want to do! Even if it's a small boat!
