Introduction - What is BAT?

About BAT Version 4

BAT v4 is the new one-stop-shop to get the latest and biggest modpack for Il-2.
It also works as a your backup in case you want to reinstall at some point.

BAT v4 replaces all previous packages, expansions and patches!

So get it and save it for backup. BAT 4.0 + 4.1 also saves you 20 Gig of hard-drive space in comparison to a collection of all the old BAT 1.0 - BAT 3.8.5 packages because surplus material has been eliminated from the download.


But there's something new:

Up until now, BAT was always a big one-in-all install from the outset: DOF, TGA, WAW and JTW era modules in one download and installer package.

BAT 4.0 contains all the common data and the WAW module only.
  • WAW - World At War contains all the planes, ships and vehicles for the WW2 era. More than 1250 planes and countless objects, vehicles, ships...

If you want to have the other eras (DOF, TGA & JTW), and therefore have the full BAT, you must download and install BAT 4.1 after 4.0.

Requirements

You must have a valid, purchased copy of IL-2 1946!

BAT has been developed to work on IL-2 1946 v4.12.2 (International version)
This version is recommended as base.

1) Get it

If you have IL-2 4.07, 4.08, 4.09, 4.10 (GOG) or 4.11, install the SAS Mega Patch first.

Steam users can get the vanilla 4.12.2 from the "Beta" section in Steam. Alternatively, you can downgrade your IL-2 with the Unpatcher.


2) Move it

IL-2 1946 is standalone and can be installed anywhere and be moved or copied to any location, including external drives, but you should avoid Windows-protected folders: Move or copy your IL-2 folder outside of the Windows "Program Files" path, in example to C:\Games\IL-2 BAT


3) Configure it

The file conf.ini is located in the IL-2 folder. Copying over your old one should do the trick. Likewise your User folder for your previous keymapping. CONF.ini needs to be right with B.A.T. Here is an example with Sound setup properly and Graphics maxxed out. If need be you can de-tune the graphics a bit, add texcompress etc, to speed it up.

2022 November AMD driver WARNING: 
AMD drivers above 22.5.xxx  version may cause problems and graphic glitches since AMD managed to screw OpenGL completely.
Check and downgrade your driver version if you have a newer driver.

Here is another CONF.ini, slightly de-tuned to be easier on performance, but still looking very good. Some particularly like 'Forest=2', because on some maps Forest=3 will cause trees to spawn on the runway!

Setting up your NVIDIA graphics card (or other, it's an example) for best display, like anti-aliasing and such, which you can't directly set in the game's conf.ini - IL-2 engine is quite old, remember?

Maximum pre-rendered frames = 3
Monitor-technology = G-SYNC (only if available)
Multi-Frame Sampled AA (MFAA) = Off
OpenGL-rendering GPU = Auto
Shadercache = On
Texture filtering - Anisotropic sample optimization = Off
Texture filtering - Negative LOD bias = Clamp
Texture filtering - Quality = Quality
Texture filtering - Trilinear Optimization = On
Threaded optimization = Auto
Vertical sync = Fast (try other modes if you aren't satisfied...)
Pre-rendered VR-Frames = 1

In the AMD Radeon control center software you can assign similar settings.

Install BAT 4.0

Place the zips and the installer in the same location and run the installer. Point it to your IL-2 folder.

Warning! The installer will delete the folders below and replace them with new content:
#DOF3, #TGA3, #WAW3, #JTW3, #DOF2, #TGA2, #WAW2, #JTW2,
BAT00, BAT01, BAT01B, BAT02, BAT02B, BAT03, BAT03B, BAT04, BAT04B

If the installation is successful you can launch BAT from the IL-2 Selector.


One last step: HD DYNAMIC LINK LIBRARIES - BATDLLS-01 OR BATDLLS-02?

Make sure you have the right HD DLLs for the HD True Colour Mod used in some areas. The HD True Colour Mod is used throughout the modern Il-2 simulator and has an immediate effect on many items if you do not have the correct DLLs for your setup.

There is no 'right' answer, it's BATDLLS-01 for some people and BATDLLS-02 for others.

The easiest way to check which you need: Launch World At War and go look at the Avro Lancaster in the QMB Preview Window. If it looks normal you are good to go. If you cannot see it, or if its a hideous naked mole rat pink you need the other DLLs, go install BATDLLS-02. If that does not help, try BATDLLS-01.

Congratulations, you now have a working BAT 4.0. It is time to expand it with more content.

- Get the Single Mission Community Packs
- Check the Missions and Campaigns section for more content

These aircraft can pull any target/glider. The "intended" is just a suggestion.
Remember to set low loads/fuel and set reasonable speeds, particularly with weaker aircraft. You can't pull a Hamilcar at 400 km/h, it will break loose. IRL it was towed at ~250 km/h. Also keep in mind, the tug must be able to maintain altitude and speed or AI will cut the towing item lose to save itself.

I have done. I have activated by jsgme.
No result.
Mybe, the error could be i have installed Bat 4.0 on a clean 4.12.2 instead of 4.12.2 with vp modpack.
