Dewotine D.790 (Naval version of the D.520)
« on: October 02, 2020, 06:56:57 AM »

A request another what-if carrier aircraft in IL-2: The Dewotine D.790 fighter. Based on what information I could find on the aircraft (which sadly only amounted to a few sentences across various sources):

...Working with their successful D.520 fighter as a base, the D.790 that emerged would incorporate folding wings, stronger landing gear, and an arresting hook. The fuselage also had emergency floats fitted inside of it to stay afloat in the event of a ditching at sea. Prototypes were ordered in 1939, and in early 1940 wind-tunnel testing began. However, when France capitulated in June 1940, work came to an end...

Thank you,

... well, since not a single D-790 was ever produced, no wonder you can't find much about it ...  :-X
