Re: Secret War Air America Laos Sam Neua and Na Kang Shheewww
« Reply #26 on: August 17, 2020, 01:07:27 AM »

In Laos, Sam Neua and Na Kang were both really difficult to pinpoint on the map
After a few attempts locating them I think I got it right this time  ;D

Maybe off a kilometer or 2 haha  :D

This is str8 out of Wiki for Sam Neua ( I don't support Communism in any form)

Xam Neua is in a valley in Houaphanh Province. At 05:45 and 17:45 each day there are public addresses from loudspeakers atop a tower on the school playground, expounding on communist life and philosophy. These addresses are usually accompanied by Lao music.

It is said that there is a communist re-education camp in Xam Neua and that it was the Pathet Lao capital during the Laotian Civil War Battle of Lima Site 85 (LS-85), 11 March 1968. It is near the Pathet Lao refuges in the Viengxay caves, which the Lao government hopes to promote as a tourism destination similar to the Củ Chi tunnels near Ho Chi Minh City in Vietnam and the Killing Fields Memorial near Phnom Penh in Cambodia. It is near Nam Et-Phou Louey National Protected Area (pronounced "naam et poo loo-ee")

Na Kamg was also hard to locate many different spellings of it and different maps too  :D

Sam Neua  :D

I also read that at first it was a northern city then read it was a town not a city
Also, a re-education camp is supposed to be there as it was the stronghold for Communist forces in Laos

Na Kang  ;)

A few more Lima sites in Laos to finish off Laos  ;) Especially 85 and 86  ;D

I also test in BAT hence all concrete strips these should be Pacific Ground strips
I also test strips in autopilot with these really tight strips in between mountains etc you really have to clear them at first forget the usual 500 meters go 2 or 3000 meters str8 after take off then you are fine although you lose A1s iccasionally crashing into mountains  :D

Well,
I came up with a mix of buildings

Japanese (cable house) French towns, large admin areas, Asian influence red roof houses and temples (lots of temples by the way) for Savannakhet  8)

Industrial  ;)

City

Rural and Airfield

There is alot more to do more houses, more walls, more electricity poles, trees etc.  :D
Outskirts of Hanoi and Vientiane will look like this but not in Thailand Thailand is different.

Here is RTAF Udon Thani  8)

You'll see grey hangars RTAF An Air America area next to the RTAF hangers
On the other side all hangers, storage and housing provided by the USAF except for the Thai shacks housing
This area is for RTAF servicemen.

Will finish off Nakhon Phanom Royal Thai Navy base
We soon move to new house give or take 4 weeks.
