Hurricane Mk.IIC cannon barrels
« on: April 01, 2020, 06:00:38 AM »

This mod, that I've already done and working for earlier game versions, does not work for 4.14; something into 3D has changed. Although I extracted and modded the proper files, the mod doesn't work. Here follow images showing new cannon shape (3D model by Barnesy) and its application to Hurri on game earlier versions. Attached the not working mod (downloadable for seven days). Any help?

Downloaded and will have cross eyed view, as I need to tackle a similar Prob for my
Spit Mk.VIII LF Special and it could serve as a learning base.

The Wingmesh in that Download protruding your new Cannons.
I fired up my WIP Trop IIC with just your Cannons, they show up correct, work.
When taking both these Wingmeshes and the Cannons, you got a strange mix of
the Wingmesh Cannons being too large and showing up.

You can just resize your Cannon meshes, making them larger in hier.him to let it look good.
If you rescale the Wing, it won't fit.
But with slightly larger Cannon meshes you end up having 30mm instead 20mm.
Understand?

I wouldn't go with these strange Wingmeshes.

Looks nice. The same unshrouded cannons were also seen on the Typhoon 1b (Early) - a 1942 car-door variant not included in BAT.

The same appearance, but longer cover fittings at these Tiffies.
Longer Tubes instead these conical fairings.
Their Barrels also protruding longer than those of the Hurries. It's a marginal, but eyecatchy
feature.

I wouldn't go with these strange Wingmeshes.
Indeed, they aren't required for earlier game versions; they could be tied to SAS Hurricane Pack, which is included in all other installs of mine where the mod works... I agree that oversizing of cannon 3D model is unsuitable, and wonder how did you install the mod as "PURE": what do you mean, exactly? If I remove the wing meshes the plane doesn't load...

Thanks for your help!

Pure, just the Cannon parts, minus hier.him, other meshes.

My 3-D has SAS Hurricanes Pack as a Base, the Mk.IIC wingmid in that Pack has two barrelless stubs on the forward leading edge.
You can trace yours are Stock Wingmeshes, with the cubic still attached Barrels and limited Hooks.
The Cannon tubes are him attached. Out of Luck, these stubs are smaller than your fairing cover,
no visual glitch. I just removed the Barrels from TropIIC and added your Cannon parts.
That's it, just swap Cannons. Worked out of the Box.

I took just the cannon meshes, then copied just the lines from your him.
Your Wing meshes have different naming, if you leave entry and delete them,
copy Sas Pack parts over, it'll not load. I looked up all meshes in SKNIL, then put it together.
I assumed from the meshes, it's different, hence didn't used just the cannon lines from the hier.him

If you wish I can post this Version for you in the WIP, it has appealing shape.
I even made air.ini class changes, for it not to conflict with other versions.
So you have your Barrels in a own Slot. That way one can recycle and use all Hurrie Models he wish side by side.

Thanks Segfej for detailed explanation. I think the key to success of this mod is combination with SAS Hurricane Pack, as you mention. I don't have it in my 4.14.1 installation, so no juice!

Yes, please!
