It looks crispy!

I found the original in my Fw-190A-9 folder as a Canon's skin for Fw 190A-8, representing a (quite uncommon, in my opinion) JG 1 camouflage.

I think that, in addition to some historical info of this kind, a screenshot of the aircraft sporting this livery would help.

Thanks for sharing!

Downloaded directly from JPG image posted above, and saved as 24 bit BMP. Massaged with Bright and here we go:

I agree with the nice shots, they kind of remind me of how Phas3e used to do his... fond memories!

... maybe a tad over weathered??*

I think the original skin was already over-weathered (possibly like the real aircraft: we can't know for sure in absence of a photo). What I find interesting in Despereaux's technique are the metallic reflections; they would be ideal for a Ki-43 skin (green splotches on aluminum). As far as I can see, skins look always like a plastic surface (similar to that of a plastic model). Perhaps Despereaux can explain how he did it!

I am glad that you liked it  :) You correctly noticed the metallic luster at the expense of this, which I tried to achieve. In fact, I'm not a pro at all in Photoshop, I did it by accident)) But I remembered how I did it. I would somehow record a video, but without sound, and the problem is that my photoshop is not in English. But I can record a video if necessary.

Perhaps somewhere overdone. I did everything by eye :)
