One thing I failed to point out in my release notes...

When first commencing work I stated that only the undamaged model would have the unwanted collision boxes removed for the 'cagework.'

But of the two damaged versions of the models, the first does have still-standing, horizontal sections with the 'cagework' present. And so for these I did also remove the unwanted collision boxes. In case there remained any hardy vehicles you might want to blast away at before they undertook to depart the bridge. ;)

Today I've begun some work on the highway bridge. Namely, reshaping the pylons that support the span. The stock shapes have a pronounced flairing, like a trumpet horn. I've always hated this. And so I'm getting rid of the curves altogether, making the sides straight, but very slightly widening toward the bottom. I think that looks much better, and would be expected to be a more generally encountered form. That strange flairing on every such bridge just looked so whimsical, like something out of fairytale illustrations. ;)

When finished, I'll update the archive itself,  and post a notice. Hardly seems worth it to make a separate d/l for this by itself due to the fairly small size.

Looking forward to this fix as well! It is incremental improvements like these that keeps this wonderful old game alive. Keep it up!  :)

Progress report: The long highway bridge has had its support pylons re-built. Next up is the short version. I think I'll raise the height of the girder framework up top, as well, like I did for the rail bridge (this snap is of the original stock height.) In case any potentially taller vehicles are or will pass through the lateral bracing, the way the locomotives used to on the rail bridge.

The updated archive is available.
- Re-made highway bridge support pylons.
- Add missing shadows (particularly for the rail bridge!).
- Darkened and reduce color saturation for the 'rusty metal' parts of the rail bridge.

Same d/l link in the top post...

One wouldn't want to significantly alter the stock object, because it must still serve as passage over the usual rivers.

A taller bridge/viaduct is best made as a new, additional object.

One could make a higher bridge as an additional object, but it wouldn't serve as a bridge. Vehicles would just go under it and up the other side and not use it.

I must be very unobservant. Only just now did I discover that winter maps use the stock meshes for bridges. (And of course the winter textures differ from the summer ones.) I guess I'll have to look at the Java...

Hello Wxtech,
fist of all very good job!
I would know if it's possible to change the height of such bridge (rail/road). Because my idea , it's building some viaduct...
