Certainly BAT compatible as regards the new 'paint job'. It should also be so for the cockpit class, as BAT is built upon 4.12. I myself have yet to add this to my recently installed BAT Red Core game; I'm gradually adding my mods so as to more readily determine what breaks things...  ;)

If you should get some conflict or other hiccup after trying it out, removing or disabling classfiles will at least quickly reveal if they're at fault. Remember to quit/restart the game after making any change whatsoever to classfiles.

Best way to find out: try it—download the mod, pop it in, and see if it breaks anything. "Is this compatible with..." is the easiest question to answer yourself.  ;)

Hello everyone,

I previously installed this mod on the VP Modpack version and now on B.A.T. Red Core v4.1.2 - both installations had the same effect, there was no cockpit view, only the sky and the horizon or some building somewhere on the map (VP or BAT).
There were such entries in the log.lst file:

I searched the directories of all the mods I had for version 4.12 for the files "placeholder.*" and I found them in the "gun sight for Hurri I and II, Buffalo and Spit I" mod (by WxTech and greybeard).
I copied these three files:
Placeholder.msh
Placeholder.mat
Placeholder.tga
into the "3DO/Cockpit/Il-2-1940Early/" directory and now it looks like it's okay.

I hope, this helps someone if they encounter a similar problem.

Best regards, cheers,
brother b

Thanks a bunch for looking into this, brat! I never noticed the missing placeholder files. I feel like a right fool!

I've updated the archive to include these three placeholder files.

I've also provided a link at the top of the first post for just the placeholder by itself. One extracts and then drops the three files into the cockpit folder with all the other files.

Cheers!

Hi Glenn
The placeholder download only appears to include the 'readme' nothing more?

OK, placeholder object download is updated to include the important files. Boy, that's sloppy of me to overlook the inclusion of everything. It's almost like some shadowy forces are at work to keep me from putting them out there.  ;)

Or it's just that I'm wrestling a few projects simultaneously, and am getting addle-brained.

May 25, 2021. Added a link at the top of the first post to a small couple of fixes. (The main archive is updated as well.)

Here's the readme contents:

A couple of small fixes for my early Il-2 cockpit mod, based upon Grief11's work.

The airspeed indicator had the "40" label located in an ambiguous place, between the 350 and 400 kph ticks. I've moved the "40" to lie next to the 40 tick. This does not apply to the damaged gauge, because I didn't have the broken glass texture as a separate item, and wanted to keep that appearance. Besides, the broken cover glass texture partly hides the problem anyway.

The seams between the abutted armored glass sections has been changed so as to reduce the prominence of the bright white edges. And the lighting parameters have been tweaked a bit.

Thanks a lot for your work and for the quick update. I downloaded the new archive in its entirety, deleted the old one, and copied a new one in its place (just to check it). Now it works fine and looks very good.
There is no reason for you to feel like a fool because we are engaged in hobby that we do in our spare time. And if anything, there must have been some shadowy forces at work. ;)

All the best WxTech and good luck with your further works.

Best regards, cheers,
