Overdrive

(1/1)

greybeard:
I recently realized that the player's plane often apparently manages to reach higher speeds with a propeller pitch of less than 100%. I have not done specific tests, and I am not even able to explain why this would happen, but several times, lately, I realized that, by reducing the pitch to avoid overheating the engine with the radiator flaps closed, the plane's speed increases slowly in straight level flight.

It is as if you were taking a slight descent with the car, having inserted the overdrive.

I get the best result between 85% and 95%, and I adjust by observing the rotation of the stroboscopic effect of the propeller blades, which must be as slow as possible, enhanced by the "Screenshot Propeller" of Ton414. Each plane has its optimum, in that range. Hurricane, for example, has it 95%.
