Birdman's fix pack
« Reply #72 on: January 15, 2020, 11:23:51 PM »

Thank You a lot for this very nice plane. I enjoy this plane a lot together with my friends here in Finland, so I wanted to fix some issues I noticed during the first night of testing.

Thus, here's some files to make this great plane even better: https://www.mediafire.com/file/9v2t72u36rsq4gu/Birdman%2527s_Myrsky_fix_pack.7z/file
- new damage textures modified by me from Cr.32 ones (from Molva or Nachprod aka MURDOC, Aviaskins.com), maybe not best possible but should be better than before until some real texture artist helps
- some hier.him fixes like center position, flap parent and positions of some damaged parts
- fixed damaged elevator and rudder
- fixed ground collision of wings
- better CAP meshes for broken wings
- proper CF mesh added to Vasay's fixed cockpit in Hurricane folder to completely fix hole between cockpit and engine
- cockpit position improved

These are tested on Vasya's cockpit fix using Hurricane cockpit folder, and should work fine when unpacked on Vasya's previous version. However, with earlier cockpit versions this center position fix will cause incorrect cockpit position. I hope someone could build a nice version with separate cockpit folder and all these and other fixes implemented to allow easy installation without different versions and possible cockpit conflicts due to shared folder. I added missing classfiles, FM and weapons from http://forum.aviaskins.com/showpost.php?p=204180&postcount=2159 on original Lone Wolf's version and then updated with previous Vasya's improvements to get the version I started fixing. Seems to work fine both on BAT and heavily modded DBW here.

I hope you like this better cockpit view and also enjoy shooting down and crashing Myrsky's more after these fixes.

This is quite a nice plane and I have enjoyed quite a lot flying it after I got my BAT 3.8. I am just wondering whether its firepower is a little bit overratted. The four nose mounter 12.7 machinegun worked like chainsaw in their destructive power and the burst cloud when hitting enemy plane is so huge that a P-38 minus the central 20mm would feel ashamed. Anyway, I love this bird. It maneuvers like a Zeke and kills like a Lavochkin.

The firepower is huge. The plane had other weaknesses that don't translate to Il-2. It's wooden construction made it impossible to maintain and it was degrading too fast in the harsh environment. In Il-2 you always fly factory fresh planes :P

Ages ago, there was a "random failures" mod that simulated sudden engine failures IIRC, maybe that could be reworked for 4.12 and include structural failures too? Like the gear damage mod also from ages ago....

These were very powerful machine guns.
