Hello again guys, just a quick update on progress. ;)

The damage model is now together, a few things were done before I got to the testing stage.

Here I have tried to show the fuel tanks as though they took a major hit, cutting bits off using
a Boolean method and then cloning that to make the inner skin, that I will paint to look like bare
metal, the front open window was also made to look as though it was hanging off:

I continued on reducing the poly count with each part I wanted to retain and where possible combining
them to make a single mesh, the crane boom itself had some items reduced and the cables splayed
over things to try and give the impression they had snapped when hit and most of the detail was removed
from the pulley wheels and just a plain drum left in place of what was there before.

This is the final result, I added a few things to the passenger side of the engine because it looked bare
and by now the poly count was going up so rather than continue and see just how far I could go I decided
enough was enough for a dead model:

The model was gradually built up in stages before I reached the final version above, testing as I went because
I was not sure just what I could get away with, a few badly spelled meshes or entries and such marred progress
but here is what I have ended up with:

I now need to put together a few textures to replicate burnt paint and wood and general damage and
then on to the Lods for the main and dead vehicle.

Take care and be safe.

Wishing you all the very best, Pete. ;D

Hello again guys, here are a few more images to bring the Thorneycroft to a end, just them Lods left and any extras. ;)

So, with the dead model done next up would be the textures, here making a start:

I decided I would need a few bullet holes so went on line to see if there were any tutorials, thankfully yes:
so I had a go:

The first test I used images I thought too large so scaled them back, here we see the alpha holes added
for the centre of the hit:

Into the game for a quick test, it won't win any artistic awards but the damage model is coming together:

View from the rear:

And the burned out cab interior:

Final testing of each version, summer:

Another view to show all around:

Winter:

Desert:

Without a photograph of a vehicle that had been shot up it is difficult to try and imagine how best to do it, here
I have concentrated the main force of a blaze on the cab and engine using the ruptured fuel tanks as the cause
leading to secondary damage with bits of the engine spilling its own fluids into the mix, a few bullet holes adorn
other areas just for good measure, it works for me but then I am easily suited. :D

I used a few Photoshop filters on the front tyres to try and replicate the burned rubber, again you will have to allow
me a great deal of slack with my artistic license here. :o

So then, the main vehicle is done and dead model with it all that remains now are those dreaded Lods and a few detail
extras such as slings and a roof rack to fully finish the off the Thorneycroft and its Coles crane. ;)

Take care and be safe.

Wishing you all the very best, Pete. ;D

Thank you very much for the kind words guys, really appreciated, glad you like them. 8)

Absolutely.  NOT. ;)  Maybe today. o_O

The dead model I think I can manage to upload later then at least the complete model is yours to tinker with as
you please, however, the Lods will I feel take just a little longer though especially at the pace I move.   :D

I did a quick test this morning with one of the dead vehicles from the car folder set up as a static object
and added the other two:

I do not want to make specific dead models for those static objects you already have, not right now at least, they
were intended just as a demonstration of what could be done by moving/deleting a few parts in the hier as eye candy
for the airfields if you wanted them, same with these dead models they are just a copy of what is in the cars folder but
with a few small alterations to make them show as a static, again your choice whether you add those, they all need
the class files posted by Andrew (Grief11) to make them show.

Anyway, I will get on with cleaning my mess from the folders and hopefully you can download from a new link later on
and tinker to your hearts content. 8)

Take care and be safe.

Wishing you all the very best, Pete. ;D

Hi Pete
I love the rust texturing, looks great . the cranes could probably use some rust flecking and wear in places. The military  usually don't look after their vehicles that well, tax payers money and all that, plenty more where that came from. :)
 Keep up your fantastic work.

Glad you like it so far Glen, thank you very much for the nice words, really appreciated. 8)

Careful Glen, them there R.A.F. technicians will be sending the boys around. :D

There is now a new link in the first page. ;)

This latest update includes the dead model complete for the moving vehicles.

Three folders have been added to the buildings folder so the dead model for each theater
can be added as a object, however, the other static objects remain as they were without
a specific dead model, you as the player can tinker with what you have to build something
more to your taste.

Those three folders have their entries added to the static.ini so you will need to update
your entries to include them if you wish to use them:

[buildings.House$DeadThorneycroftColes]
Title           DeadThorneycroftColesDead
MeshLive        3do/Buildings/DeadThorneycroftColes/Live.HIM
MeshDead
AlignToLand     0
Body            RockBig
Panzer          0.05

[buildings.House$DeadThorneycroftColesDesert]
Title           DeadThorneycroftColesDesert
MeshLive        3do/Buildings/DeadThorneycroftColesDesert/Live.HIM
MeshDead
AlignToLand     0
Body            RockBig
Panzer          0.05

[buildings.House$DeadThorneycroftColesWinter]
Title           DeadThorneycroftColesWinter
MeshLive        3do/Buildings/DeadThorneycroftColesWinter/Live.HIM
MeshDead
AlignToLand     0
Body            RockBig
Panzer          0.05

The entries for the moving vehicles can remain as they are.

Still to do:

Lods for all parts.

Possible additional objects such as slings and chains for the crane and maybe a roof rack for the Thorneycroft.

Please remove your existing folder completely and add the new one in the download because with each new
version there have been extensive alterations too numerous to remember and note down.

Take care and be safe.

Wishing you all the very best, Pete. ;D

Sorry! That comment was based on observations on a military base in my country a few years back, though I doubt things have changed since, corruption has become a national pastime ;D.
