Getting carried away as usual. :D

Detailing the cab, drivers controls:

The real deal:

Hopefully I will finish this sometime during this New Year. ;)

Wishing you all the very best, Pete. ;D

Hello again guys, yet another quick update. ;)

The parts for the main body are now constructed, just one item in the case of mudguards and
anything that requires two of, I will map one before cloning to make the pairs.

Drivers seat and a basic seat in the centre, there will be a clone of the drivers seat after mapping
that will occupy a position at the opposite side and slightly forward:

Front lamp, the hook eyelet has also been altered after finding a clearer image:

Drivers mirror:

Fuel tank with one of the straps and the cab foot step:

Brackets to hold the rear mudguard in position:

There are a few small details I am deciding whether or not to add but time has come to begin further mapping
I think, this will take some time if I do all the small details for the cab now rather than later. :D

Take care.

Here I am again, just a few more images for you. ;)

Cab mapping is done inner and outer as is the radiator but awaiting some colour:

Inside the radiator and a strip for the engine cover:

The mesh is a texture, maybe later I might try alpha cut holes:

Cab and glass altered to have opening doors:

I extracted some of the larger parts to see how things looked:

Development team at work with the prototypes:D

Take care.

Hello again guys, just another update, hope you are not getting bored of them, unfortunately illness makes for
slow progress but doing this helps keep me sane though so on we go. ;)

The larger parts such as mudguards are now mapped, however, the various brackets that would hold
them in place on the real thing are made but still require mapping:

Moving on to some of the smaller assemblies, inner and outer wheel arches here and the guard at the front
that holds the hook eyelets:

Room on the texture is now sparse as seen with placement of the last two parts:

It might be that I need to reduce the overall dimensions for all the mapping but at the moment I am trying
to get the last of the major parts into the existing areas still free. o_O

Take care.

Getting there, adding some large and small details. ;)

Those fuel tanks seem to be such a prominent feature of this vehicle along with the large wheels:

Eyelets for the crane hook traveling straps with headlights and cab mirrors:

Cab step with frame:

Take care.

Hello again guys, just a few more images for you. ;)

The exterior of the Thorneycroft itself is essentially complete now the various mudguard brackets have
been mapped and painted to match:

Some actually have a rack on top of the cab and that will be done eventually, also I intend to make a
simplified replica of the engine.

Moving into the cab now with mapping started on the seats:

Decided to change the colour to better reflect those in the preserved example in Belfast:

There are still many preserved examples roadworthy here in the U.K., many of them have over the
years been kept in beautiful condition by private collectors as well as by traveling fair ground drivers
who seem to love these graceful old vehicles:

One type seen in almost all traveling fairgrounds as well is the Foden in its many guises, I was lucky
to see the very last of those come of the production line at Leyland some years ago, so sad when
you see the end of production and see them end their days in a museum. ::(

We I think almost always associate the Thorneycroft with the recovery set and its Coles crane,
however, a quick search through the internet shows it had other uses as well:

Once I finish mapping and painting the cab I might post a link to the vehicle so far although it is
without lods and will only be a static model for now you can then actually take a look at it in the
flesh so to speak and pass comment on the work so far, could be a few days yet though. ;)

Take care.

Hello again guys, just a couple more images from ongoing work. ;)

I missed this in the last post, yet another possible option for this versatile truck, and to think
all these years I only thought it came as the crane combination:

First fitting of some of the cab furniture in game:

I was not sure how to represent the height adjustment mechanism for the seat but eventually went
for a box using alpha cuts, not too bad I think:

Only realised yesterday that the engine cover has detachable sides so I thought I would try it out and
at the same time have them placed on the floor propped up against the truck:

Doors open, panels off...that would make a perfect "dead" version which I in my little Stuka would gladly attempt to make happen.

Hello guys, there is now a link in the first page to the WIP so far. ;)

There is still much work to do but I am uploading the project so far so you can have a look at it
and comment on possible errors or other changes.

You can modify this as you like to create your own projects, this vehicle was the base for many different
vehicles that include troop carriers, articulated trailers for liquid and others to carry cargo, they have
also been used by many private individual collectors and drivers from traveling fair grounds in the UK.

Not for commercial use without permission but I have no problem with it being converted to other game
formats, many have allowed use of their models for us to convert to IL-2 standard so feel free to do
likewise if needed.

This is the unit so far, the crane has still to be built:

No Lods.

Only as a static object for test, I will later add the java to make it move.

No damage model, that will come later.

Basic paint work and templates for different meshes used in construction.

All information necessary to use the download is in the first page and the readme.

The following images are the work on the cab that bring the project up to what is in the download link.  :)

Take care.
