Formosa-China Map
« on: November 19, 2019, 08:05:25 AM »

Here is a download link to a map of northern Formosa and a small part of the Chinese mainland. The distances between the two have been shortened to make flying times more reasonable for the game. I've been working on this map since quite a few years, but with a long hiatus until a while ago. I finished the missing items (I hope).

I don't have many screencaps yet. Making good ones is not just a click click operation. It takes a good scenario and some luck. In any case, here is a view of the ed_mpa to give and idea of the area in the map.

That is odd because I made it in a 4.10 map maker. Could you describe the problem? Will the map load so you can see the ed_map? or can your install not save missions and fly?

Of it is the last, then it is a question of missing objects. You may have a number of objects not installed. Of you run the map actors through a static.ini checker, you will be able to find the missing objects. Then I can post a download with some luck.

The irony of working in BAT. I simply can't get a BAT installation to work on my machine, tried at least 4 times already  ... ha ha

This one is correct, can not save and fly.

I just tried with the "universal_static.ini_checkerV1.3.exe" to find the missing files - no chance.

I got in the "static_ini_checker.ini" file no useful result(s).

Thank you for your work.

Here is a link to the extra Objects I have installed over my 4.10. Maybe you can find whatever you are missing. The missing objects should be in one of these packs.

objects and wrecks and objects landing crafts and Donbass trees would be likely candidates.

Another "forgotten area' is covered by Agracier. Many thanks for your new contribution to Il-2 Universe!

And if BAT makers notice and will include this map in the next edition of the pack...

Just one thought. This map is downscaled 1:2 if I'm not mistaken. Is it more difficult to keep 1:1 for a mapmaker?
The area is just about 300 km across in real life so 1:1 game map could be playable as well, especially with fast-flying jets...
Hope I don't sound as ungrateful one... :-|

I started the map some 4 or 5 years ago and it was put on hold, along with all Il-2 activity until a while ago. So I really don't know anymore which scale I used, but I am pretty certain it is in the standard 1 pix=50 meters scale as are all the original Il-2 maps.

I did however reduce the ocean distance between Formosa and part of the mainland. There is lots of open water even now and otherwise it just makes maps larger and slower to load ...
