Thanks for all your kind words everyone. Really appreciated.

 I'm happy to hear that this is working in other versions of the game as well.

I've added a link to the cockpit folder that I omitted to replace in the original release.

As soon as I figure out how to use the video file you posted Gerhard I'll have a view. It sounds like a good one. :D

P.s. As herbarnold pointed out this should have been posted in the twins section. My bad.

Great bird-thanks a lot!
But is it possible to get at least a Mk VIII gunsight for that bird;
A British gunsight looks so wrong in US birds 😁

I think it is just as valid being classified as a single. It looks like a single engine aircraft in any case ...

Same to me. Single engine FTW!

Hi,

       I thought I would report that I downloaded and installed the FR-1 Fireball in my v 4.12.2m SAS Modact v 5.3 game and it CTD at 20%. Normal install with the plane folder in my #SAS folder, the air.ini and properties files in their correct respective places. Maybe not compatible with my setup.

Lone Wolf,

dezipp the file and put it in your "Records" folder.

Start the game and start the video, or did not I understand you correctly?

tried it now a few times but I had hard times landing on carriers thanks to the weird engine managment in the FM;
this baby should be landed like an early jet and not like a prop fighter;
from what I remember the jet engine was supposed to boost the speed during combat but should not be used while operating around the boat so it would be nice to get a "decoupled" flight model where one can select the jet engine and the piston engine independently...
IIRC the I-250 had this kind of engine management in the game so maybe that could serve as the base for a new FR-1 FM?

as of now, the FR-1 is nice to fly but a bitch to operate around the boat, I´d rather stick to Bearcats and Tigercats, not to speak of my beloved Corsair :D

Hello Griffon,

to land the Fireball is easy. Watch this ".ntrk" video:

Hey Gerhard!

I have watched you track and your carrier landing technique is different to mine; I usually prefer the English curved approach as with this you can virtually keep the deck in sight to the last moments;
problem with the Fireball is, as soon as I catch a wire, it rolls a little bit forward till the hook grips the wire, and then it pitches up till the tail touches the deck and explodes;
very weird;
I have gotten into carrier landings quite well again recently and I manage to easily land everything from TBDs to SB2Cs and F7Fs but that Fireball is a different story;
and I definitely do not like its flight model;
its acceleration is ridiculously slow (it seems to only accelerate on the jet engine, not the piston one) and its deceleration much to quick when putting down flaps...definitely something that should be improved... if only I knew how to do it, I would do it as I have some good reference books on the navy fighters...
