Hotfix Monitoring
« on: November 12, 2019, 11:28:59 AM »

Hi folks,

Since the IL-2 Great Battles Devs just don't want to understand the ingenuity of Announcement Sections and instead hide their hotfix releases in the corresponding discussions thread in the "General Discussion" section, which is similar to writing it on a sheet of loo paper in a cellar bar on the 2nd street, I'd like to share my solution to this issue with you.

It's here: https://visualping.io/

Visualping provides a service free of charge where you can monitor websites for changes, in particular visual changes.
Each monitoring task conists of a URL to check and a region of the rendered webpage which will be monitored for changes.
You can even adjust the level of changes needed to trigger an alert.

For instance, I've set a monitoring task on the 4.001 discussion thread which checks the following region for changes:

It's important to adjust the region accordingly so that really only relevant changes are triggering alerts.
For instance if the rectangle would be extended to the right a bit, it would contain the "reactions" which naturally can and will change frequently.

The minimum interval for checking a site is one hour on the free plan, absolutely sufficient for my needs.

Probably I'll never use this tool, but if you can stand a bit of heartfelt flattering, I do adore you for your uncompromised sportsmanship when it comes to finding solutions and workarounds.  8)
