Failed to update
« on: October 22, 2019, 02:22:47 AM »

Great work, Mike!
Perhaps it would be worth noting in the announcement that "mods on" mode is not required for this "mod".

PS. I get a "Failed to update" message if I try to run the game via the launcher while this mod is activated. Il-2.exe works fine.

Sounds completely unrelated to be honest.
All this mod is doing is to swap out "custom_picture.dds" files in the regarding plane subfolders.

I know that swapping files shouldn't affect anything, but it seems to doing so, at least in my install.
I get this message whenever I enable, and I don't get this message whenever I disable this mod via JSGME.
If your system is not affected, then it's another quirk in my install and I should consider doing a complete reinstall of the game.

I have just cross-checked this on two separate systems and there's no issue when running the launcher with anything enabled in JSGME, just as expected.
Maybe you should just wipe your "updates" folder, happened to me once on our Gameserver that I had to do this.

Yep, thanks for checking, I'll do it, the strange thing is that the last time I did it was just a few days ago (when I experienced strange icons behaviour).

If it's that bad, a complete reinstall seems to be recommended.

Strange Icons behavior? You mean things (icons) hiding/clipping behind the gun sight and body on what seems to be weird invisible squares/planes with alpha channels?

Like it weirdly clips and is only visible in a few odd/strange angles from different views? If so, then just back up what you want to keep (skins/etc) and delete the whole folder and reinstall it from scratch. I had this strange bug take place that I couldn't even screenshot and capture but reinstalling the whole thing from scratch on Steam seemed to fix it for me.

This is exactly what I had, but deleting the update folder solved the problem. Now it seems that it was not sufficient to get rid of all issues, and I have the reinstall the full game. ]crybaby2[

DonĀ“t start your game via the launcher, use the .exe file from your game folder to avoid startup issues.

Sorry guys, it was not my intention to hijack this thread.
I was just reporting an issue which later appeared to be specific to my install.
Admins, please feel free to remove what doesn't properly belong here.

Yep, but now that's really totally unrelated to the "Cockpit Pictures" mod so I took the liberty to split the topic and move this thread where it belongs.
