RWD-9

The RWD 9 was a 1934 Polish sports plane, built by the RWD team.
Two RWD 9 participated in the Spanish civil war next to the Republic.
Mace has made the slot and the flight model. He has also made several improvements such as adding passengers, packages and paratroopers.

Only 1 RWD-9 came to Spain. It was crashed in October 1936 during a flight to Toulouse. His remains are still the property of the owner of the farm in France - where the accident occurred. They are valuable because they still wear the original colors of the Spanish Republic. No aircraft of this type fell into the hands of General Franco's Rebels. In addition - it was a 4-seat plane so it should have one more window behind the panel and the engine without creases. The best engine would be from Lublin R-XIII - a different type but quite similar

Camouflage colors are also slightly different and the old Polish civil painting shines through them.

In Spain there were two RWD9
RWD 9 were used by the sporting aviation. In 1935 two of them (SP-DRA, SP-DRB) were sold to Spain
The Spanish aircraft were used as liaison aircraft on the Republican side during the Spanish Civil War.

The Polish team toured Europe and North Africa, including Spain. Someone must have liked it because two of these light aircraft, the SP-DRA and SP-DRB No. 73 and 76 respectively of the Polish Team Challenge, arrived in Spain and subsequently saw participation during the Spanish Civil War. Neither survived the contest.

You were right, there were two - while the history of the WM46 is quite well described, the WM-50 remains in the shadows. Polish sources also give different dates for selling machines to Spain. These aircraft had great performance and the RWD-9 was recognized by the French air press as the best tourist aircraft in the world. In 1975 ... when none existed anymore ...
