« on: September 04, 2019, 03:04:23 PM »

White 4 is a Bf 109 E that made a wheels up landing in the UK on September 30th 1940. Here is a link to the video.

I saw it last summer, when i went on a trip with my family around europe.  :) I remember the visit at Duxford just as if it happened yesterday....
That 109 in particular caught my attention, togheter with the moltitude of beautiful planes (some still flyable!) present there. I have a crush for jets, especially '60/'70 and more moderns too, and i saw so many jet planes there that my phone camera couldn't keep up with me ;D
I was astonished of how many WWII planes were still flyable! And i got the unique chance to see a Spitfire Mk.I and PBY Catalina turn on the engines and take-off just a few meters away
What a memorable day it was! :)

Took my son there last year David, having not been for many years. What a great day out. Anyone that gets the chance to go, really should. :)

I know. Must do Bovington too. I was a day late, and a pound short the last time in 81.

I am a big fan of armored vehicles too. I visited Bovington in the same period as Duxford.
Astonishing collection of tanks! They are literally everywhere!  ]hello2[
One of my top 3 favourite museums ever, togheter with Duxford and Speyer/Sinsheim (Germany). 8)

:SPOILER ALERT:
I absolutely loved the Tiger room and the half-cutted Centurion...Thay cutted it in half to show the internals and crew position inside a tank
Absolutely breathtaking and marvellous.

The Centurion would be interesting to see. Amongst all the other stuff. Try the Omaka airshow if you're here in Easter 2022. Or try Airforce World in Christchurch. There's also the next Wings over Wanaka airshow at Easter next year.

You should visit Tangmere some time

https://www.tangmere-museum.org.uk/

They have a Lightning simulator you can fly and if you have the money ( like £3000  :o) you can fly a spit

Sounds cool. In Auckland, you can fly a Spitfire, or P40 for about $4500. Both are two seaters. For those on a budget, there is a Yak with an Allison engine for a mere $2300 at Omaka which is in Blenheim. I saw that flying at Easter.
