Many Quick missions freeze at 30% 0n loading screen
« on: August 18, 2019, 05:00:53 PM »

 Log: https://pastebin.com/s86QSjbR

I installed vanilla il2 1945from a disk , 12.2 mega patch, loaded BAT, all expansion packs and paint scheme pack. Installation easy and straightforward as indicated on SAS site.

In Jet age many planes will not load in quick mission builder.

Quick mission starts to load but freezes at 30% requiring that I close the program in task manager.

I believe that I installed correctly and so far it seems that the other modules work flawlessly,

I did a search on the tech forum but have not found a solution.

system: intel 4790 k, nvidia tian video card, 16 gigs of ram.

Bat ios brilliant work. You made a great sim even better and after almost 20 years it is still great fun

Any help would be appreciated.

I reinstalled everything but have the same problem.

The log you post is the wrong one, this does not help anything.

did you delete the last quick?
did you do a reset in QMB?

give me an exact sample of a mission that does not work so I can reproduce it.

That is the log that was generated right after my last try at generating a quick mission with a with a plane that would not load.

It was the only log I found.

F 16, f18 and many others  load to 30%. loading stops. Must go to task manager to close program

On a couple of tries, f16 loaded but mission came up just with sky-no planes.

I do not believe there is a problem with BAT or the install. all install logs stated successful install.

It looks to me like the program is looking for a file that is missing.

Thanks very much for looking at this.

Hi brp51d,

Can you post a screenshot of your QMB right before it fails? Press the print screen button before clicking "fly". If the mission fails, go to IL-2 BAT/MyScreenShots folder and share the image you took.

You need 5 posts before you can link content. Submit 5 replies here and you will then able to insert a link. You can easily upload screenshots to https://postimages.org/ in example.

This also happens with most helicopters and most modern jets

Please use quote functions and please try to understand what I am asking. Otherwise this will get frustrating real soon.

If you had bothered to read the sticky "Please read this before posting" you'd know how to post a log
https://www.sas1946.com/main/index.php/topic,49972.0.html

Sadly, you didn't bother to answer my questions about resets or last quick and you haven't given any useful information to reproduce what you tried to do.
So everyone is at square one still.

Indeed, yes. Some quickmissions only work in WAW. This has been so for years, due to the way they are built, using things in the background that are not available in JTW.  But a great many / most work in any era. If you encounter a problem on a map, try another to see what the problem is of if it's just this quickmission or a general issue. You'll be safe in JTW using a quickmission set with the JTW prefix but as I said, most other maps also work.
If you had posted a proper log, I'd already know if that was the problem.

First I greatly appreciate the work you and you team have don on BAT and your continued support.

I did read the troubleshooting instructions and although I thought I had followed them, apparently I made a mistake and posted the wrong log

I did answer your questions and replied  that I had tried several resets and asked how to delete last quick:

"did you delete the last quick? [ans.] No How do I do this?
did you do a reset in QMB?  [ans.] yes several times"

"give me an exact sample of a mission that does not work so I can reproduce it.

[ans.] F 16, f18 and many others  load to 30%. loading stops. Must go to task manager to close program

On a couple of tries, f16 loaded but mission came up just with sky-no planes.

I understand now that I posted the wrong log.

Posted the question about missions because I thought that could be the cause of the problem.

I did not think of it at first because I had tried numerous missions with the same result with many planes and maps.

I did an extensive search on the BAT tech and other SAS forums to try to solve this myself.

I was able to solve a number of other minor issues with the program by doing this and did not want to bother you guys if I could fix it myself.

Thank you

Please use the quote function
You posts are hard to read otherwise and people miss points and will eventually ignore them.

Quote
"did you delete the last quick? [ans.] No How do I do this?

under
...\IL-2 Sturmovik BAT\Quicks

there's a file .last.quick. Delete that. It is always the whole information about your last quickmission. When you delete it, you will start with a  afresh Quick with no possible balast from before, like elements from a wrong era module or whatever.

"give me an exact sample of a mission that does not work so I can reproduce it.

Man, you are not making this easy...
This is NOT HELPING.

What map, what scenario on that map, what loadout, alone or with opposition (what opposition), airstart or takeoff....
COME ON, please work along here. What do I have to click to build the exact same mission you were having problems in?

You might want to wait till you are at home and can a) make a log and b) a screenshot like Whistler suggested.

Will try to delete last mission.

Just as an example of the quick missions that failed:

F 16, f 18,f 104,F105, mig 19, 21  [all versionsof these planes] with no opposition

F 16, F 18, F 140, f105, mig 21 [all versions with opposition]: mig  19, 21[all versions], il28, KA 50,52, Hind. in Mig missions opposition was F4, all versions.

All with default loadout, airstart most were on mission in air.

I tried a few with the other mission options in QMB, attack armor or bridge but they did not get past 30%

Maps: N and S Korea, Vietnam, Berlin, Net Islands,

So far all older jets I have tested work: f 86 all versions, F 100, f 80, F9 , F 4 [all versions], Mig 15 [all versions]

If deleting last quick and checking additional maps don't work, I will post screen shot and correct log

This is the log entry under console in my conf.ini. copied from trouble shooting page:

LOG=1
LOGTIME=1
LOGFILE=log.lst
LOGKEEP=0

 appreciate your patience and assistance.

https://pastebin.com/j1bSUhV4-  log file
https://pastebin.com/7wECKmEx-initlog

I believe this is the correct log file. It was generated after a quick mission failed.

I posted both of the log files generated to be sure I am giving you the correct one.

1-deleted last quick mission in quicks folder

2-reset QMB

Checked for BAT settings/setup.01  effects-file is in BAT00

For reasons, I haven't figured out, my pc is not printing screen shot

I took a cellphone picture which I uploaded to Patsebin.

https://i.postimg.cc/br3nDb8F/20190819-191951.jpg

Mission that froze at 30%:

Plane F 16 C, Block 30 1987
no opposing planes
air start
default loadout
weather clear 12 pm
alt. 1000
date 15.06.1940
map JTW Grand Canyon
Mission Red Flag-Red Team

I hope I have given you all needed info.

I reinstalled everything and also reinstalled the latest expansion pack

I appreciate the time you take to help

thank you
