Well, I did exactly this a while back with the German campaigns and it worked fine. It takes some work to find which files you need to add the necessary lines of code, but if done correctly, you can have a modded plane working perfectly in a DGen campaign.

After all, we already have quite a few DGen campaigns that utilize modded aircraft.

Don't think there is any right/wrong answer here as - in my experience - this is a hit or miss proposition. 

Examples;
- I added the F8F to a Pacific War campaign segment (Japan1) and the PacificPlanes.DB.
- It just didn't work when I selected that plane type via the Campaign set-up screen - received some sort of missing wing message.
- Then I worked on an ETO campaign segment (G45 I think) and added the P-47M to that and the EuroPlanes.DB
- And that worked fine so go figure.

Keep in mind that you can fly ANY available plane listed in the Plane.DB by selecting it via P.A.L. on the missions screen for each mission.

ETO and PTO work differently in DGEN.
This comes from the era way back then Forgotten Battles and Pacific Fighters were separate. Some rules under DGEN are different.

Can they be played in multiplayer? A friend and I are trying to play them, but they don't appear in the multiplayer list.

Pilot Careers are single player only. AFAIK

Dgen does not seem to take into account the lenght parameter for some reason.

Is this from a Pacific campaign?

It *could be* that Pacific campaigns work a little different there.

It is, indeed.

I just checked and a finn campaign takes my length settings.

An I stuck with pacific very long campaigns ?

Offtopic (kinda): default BAT skin for F-4U1C is OK (1944/45), but default BAT skin for F4U1D is not OK (F4U1A 1943 markings), any possibility to change it for 3.8.6 if it's in the works ? Dgen uses def skins it see.

Hello there

I have just installed BAT, with DGen for BAT. I have followed every step in the instruction. And none of the DGen campaigns work. I hear beep every single time I'm trying to launch one. Apart from stock ones that have been in vanilla game. Static campaigns work very good.

Here's what I did:

 -Downloaded Il-2 from Steam (4.12.2m)

 -Copied game to desktop, and this is the copy I am modding

 -Changed DPI settings and  in conf.ini screen settings for resolution (1920:1080)

 -Changed conf.ini lines to the ones provided by authors of BAT in original post (the ones that are slightly detuned)

 -Downloaded BAT

 -Installed it

 -Downloaded DGen for BAT with patch, installed the DGen, then copypasted files from inside the folder "DGEN" that was inside patch to "DGen" folder in BAT location.
  (note: I have tried both with patch for DGen v5.0 for BAT and without. I get same results)

 -Then I have downloaded and installed Monty's BOB campaigns, some Poltava ones (I don't remember exact number and names) and installed them

 -Then I have installed all skins from these campaigns (there was a lot of them) by copypasting them to correct folders in "skins"

And that is all what I did for now. Have I missed something/ did something wrong? What is the cause of that beep (I know only that this is DGen related)

I have tried to get logs, but in conf.ini i don't have an option "LOGFILE=log.lst", and I don't want to insert any lines in file, at least not for now because I don't know if this will cause any problems. All other values are in correct order within this guide instructions: https://www.sas1946.com/main/index.php/topic,13457.0.html

However, I do have a file called "eventlog.lst", which content I'm placing below:

Honestly, I don't know what this means or where the problem is. I'm green when it comes to any pc/game files  ;D

Previously I have had VP Modpack without any DGen mods, DGen lines- as any modifications to DGen lines I have copied from other posts on forum didn't worked- and all DGen campaigns (which are the same as in BAT) worked without any troubles.

Could anyone enlighten me what am I doing wrong or what do I have to do to make them work?

are you by chance from Poland?

Can't open Message file DGen\MessagePl.dat

What locale does your game use? Polish maybe?
Could be that it is looking for polish language files that simply don't exist.

Check the conf.ini.
if it is set to locale=PL, change that to locale=us (basically the "international" locale)
