Me P.1101 and the Bell X-5
« on: March 16, 2019, 04:13:26 PM »

I learn something every day:

the me P.1101 could have it's swept of wings be changed on the ground for the purpose of finding the most efficient swept angle to be applied.
This particularity seems to have inspired the hole idea of changing the swept of the wings while actually in flight, = X-5 !   :o

It never occurred to me to compare the two types ! In my mind, each had it's own very separate existence.
( ..deep down under lot of accumulated stuff and lot of dust ).

I believe the US armed forces captured the only (unfinished) prototype of this Luftwaffe aircraft and took it back to the USA for further testing
and final construction... which led to the design of the cool Bell X-5... which led to development of the F-86 Sabre.

A few years ago a very rare COLOR photo of the Messerschmitt P.1011 showed up on the internet, with some US soldiers and sexy girls ! LOL

Everything I like is either illegal, immoral or fattening ! Welcome to SAS1946
