single mission: Meteor F.8 intercepts Canberra
« on: February 15, 2019, 09:29:14 AM »

On 6 November 1956 during the Suez crisis, Canberra PR7 WH799 operating from Cyprus on a recon flight over Syria was intercepted by two Syrian Meteors and shot down. One crewmember died during bail out, the two others survived. This was the last air to air combat loss for the RAF.

Earlier on this day, a similar recon flight was hampered by cloud cover and so later that afternoon the flight was repeated. This proved to be a fatal mistake as the Syrian ground observers were ready and could direct Meteors to an intercept. The next day, Britain declared a cease fire, ending the Suez operations.

You will be guided by a series of ground observers in your attempt to catch up with the intruder!

enjoy :)

single mission will be placed into /NN/BAT_JTW folder but you can put them wherever you like.

Meteor skin by mm
Canberra skin by me (RAF Akrotiri was running out of yellow paint so the stripes looked rather bleak on their aircraft)
