Check your controls settings under HOTAS section - sounds like the mousewheel is bound to a control axis? This will stop it zooming the map in flight.

Thanks M.  I looks look the mouse wheel (mouse Z-axis) was bound to Mixture.  I could not find a way to get rid of it, so I reset to default and repopulated the controls...it worked!!  If you hadn't mentioned the mouse wheel being bound to something, I would not have known what to do.  Much appreciated :) :) ;D ;D ;D

Dietz, there is a solution, thanks to marcost.

Hi lyteyr,
happily you have solved your problem.

Next time you need to unbind some axis, you can do the following (instead of re-programming all the commands as you did: effective, but boring and time-consuming):

1.- Select the axis you want to write off (in your case, Mixture).
2.- Assign a joystick action (for example, move your joystick to the left or to the right). The mouse Z-axis will be erased and it will be replace by a new axis (device2 X-axis, for example).
3.- Recover your corresponding joystick action (select Aileron and move your joystick again to the left or right . I don't remember exaclty which is the correct one). Mixture axis will change to blank, Aileron axis will correspond to joystick again, and you will have your mouse wheel available to zoom the map.

I hope I've explained myself.

Thanks SpongeBob.  I will keep your note for future reference. Hopefully I won't need it!
