Whoa..awesome.. excellent detail.. obviously a lot of work and research.
Has anybody here ever set up a naval battle in a mission?
You could probably re-enact a small version of the Battle of Jutland in a mission with enough ships. but that's a LOT of modeling.
And of course you'd have to have flares and searchlights on the ships for the night action.

I've done simple, small naval battles, but they can be deceptively tricky to set up.  The ships essentially have no AI other than gunnery, so they won't maneuver to avoid collisions like tanks will and you have to be very careful with pathing.  I once watched an entire battle line sink itself when the lead ship was sunk and the other ships plowed into the wreck and sank in turn.  It was like some kind of super-sized highway pileup.

EDIT: found a screenshot of the clusterf*ck in question

I agree. Ships are good as targets in missions and to populate sea areas but the introduction of AI to the movement coding would make them so much better.

There would seem to be remarkable potential for naval battles in IL2 and AI coding would be a great improvement. To avoid situations like Katyusha described above, one has to painstakingly choreograph the way points to avoid collisions. Similarly, if one requires ships to take evasive action during bombing attacks, then all the circling and other changes of heading have to be placed manually. It is very time consuming.
Now also with the advent of driveable ships, such as the PT boat mod, and the PT Elco as a WIP from Bombsaway and CWatson, it is possible to participate in naval battles! Just waiting for the day when some gifted person presents us with a driveable destroyer with several gunner positions.

Brilliant work by the way Ashe

Gun crew was omitted on purpose, like stock Tirpitz.
Reversed swastika I meant to correct but forgot   :(

Download 3 added - Fixes the Kreigsmarine Ensign which was reversed on one side of the flag.

Extract files into the model folder. Five files in total.

Just noticed another minor glitch. The handrails on the crane boom only appear on one side. See Patch4 for a fix.
