Okay, so I never was really happy how these three planes sounded. I always felt like sitting in a tractor with two cylinders and some 20 hp....

I am currently working on a campaign for the Hansa-Brandenburg D.I and eventually decided to do something about it.
Here's a mod that gives these three aircraft the in-flight engine sound of the Oeffag D.III, which makes a lot of sense since it is the exact same in-line 6 cylinder Austro-Daimler (or Hiero, which is just the same).

Folder contains modded FM files for
Berg D.I
Phoenix D.I
Hansa-Brandenburg D.I

You can either overwrite the old FM files or drop the folder as-is into BAT DOF2, it will override (not overwrite!) the original FMs.
All I did was edit the engine sound references, otherwise the FMs are identical to the original downloads.

These aircraft sound really good now.  An excellent upgrade applied through the Flight Model.  Many thanks for helping to introduce this as standard for the next B.A.T. Expansion.

But IMHO

In any prop aircraft dominated sound is propellor.
2nd is exhaust sound
And only 3rd is engine sound itself and totally dissolved in 1&2
4th part in cockpit must be heard mainly prop sound + low frequency sound from hull vibration mixed with exh sound.
That all sound modes in game can be much simple as is now.
