Aluminum Hornets
« on: July 05, 2017, 10:28:52 PM »

Here's a few aluminum Hornets mostly RAF F.3 but also two RN F.20s (and one medium grey/PRU bird).  Generics are included as are both HD and 1024 skins. Aircraft include RAF: WB879, No. 80 Sqd Hong Kong (1950); PX351 No. 64 Sqd, UK (47); XP284, No. 19(F) Sqd, UK (48); PX351, No.64 Sqd, UK (47); WF974, Hong Kong (52); PX216, PRMk2 test bed; PX302, No. 41 Sqd (49); plus two RN aircraft.  Huge thanks to Edlor and Mace for this exceptional addition to the game.!!!! Great work.

Aluminium reflects light and does not heat up as dark colors do, maybe an issue when operating a wooden aircraft in hot conditions, like Malaysia where the Hornets saw some action. Especially when you have air superiority and detection from above is a non issue. You might even want to point yourself out to friendlies.

The Vampire also had wooden parts and was painted overall aluminium during much of it's service time.

In the 50s, aluminium and white was also considered a good choice in case of having to deflect light flash and radiation from nuclear blasts.

Hello dona,

thanks for your Hornet-skins. Is there a template available for this bird? Help would be appreciated very much.
Thanks,
