Has there been any movement / further discussion on what to do with the Steam version of the game?  Is it possible to overwrite the service settings or is there something like Puppet running in their retail load environment?

GoG probably works, but with Steam unfortunately not .

Steam version currently is 4.12.2. You do not need the unpatcher unless you upgraded your game to 4.13 and want to roll it back (or you can just delete and download the game again from steam).

I have tried this mod on both Windows 7 and 10 following the modders intructions explicitly.

Windows 7 = works
Winodws 10 = dont work

Shame cos the GOG unpatcher is no longer available...If on Win 10 looks like the only way is to patch up from 4.10.1 which is a pain really

Curious, it worked for me and I'm on Win 10. Hmmm.

Thought I'd try this for fun on my Steam copy which was manually patched to v4.13.4 under Windows 10.

Bottom line, it works as advertised and is super easy and very fast.

@whistler THANK YOU! May I offer a suggestion? It would be great if you displayed everything the bat file is doing within the CMD window so people can see it working instead of just saying it's finished. It may help for debugging too for those that can't get it to work.

@SGT68  As whistler mentions in post#3, the entire unpatcher folder has to be copied to your IL-2 directory. The file structure should look like this...

x:\...\IL 2 Sturmovik 1946\IL-2 v4.13.X Unpatcher\4.12.2 INT files <directory>
x:\...\IL 2 Sturmovik 1946\IL-2 v4.13.X Unpatcher\4.13.X INT to 4.12.2 INT.bat
x:\...\IL 2 Sturmovik 1946\IL-2 v4.13.X Unpatcher\Readme.txt

Double click '4.13.X INT to 4.12.2 INT.bat' and it will do it's thing (it's VERY quick). When finished delete the 'IL-2 v4.13.X Unpatcher' directory.

This was in fact a quick, dirty and ugly piece of work. It'll get the job done if requirements are met, but there is no error checking and you will always get a success message.

It is not worth spending more time on it since it won't last long in your PC. I will however revisit it when 4.14 comes out. In the meantime, anyone can certainly beautify it / improve it.

Steam allowed me to roll back to 4.12 using the 'Beta' settings - this works fine with all my previously installed mods.

Edit: (Wouldn't allow me to attach a screenshot) - Beta options are found by right clicking the game in Steam and selecting 'Properties', then click on the 'Betas' tab. There's a drop down menu that allows one to select the previous 4.12 version.

Posting to update regarding the GoG version 4.13.4m (current download as of today). I had no problem reverting to 4.12.2 using this, thanks a bunch!

For those of you with Steam versions (which apparently can't be rolled back), the GoG version is on sale for $1.99. Well worth it to be able to have multiple versions and installs.

Just want to make it known that IMO the steam version is the best one to grab since you get 3 versions of the game, and can duplicate as many copies as you'd like.. It's been an awesome addition to my stable of flight sims.
