On a separate question though, for the file named "1EDCB6DEAEE581E0" where do you place it in the IL-2 install? I'm running BAT v4.2.1 and I cannot seem to find a location for similar such files.

Edit: If you're interested, I could submit a .fmd and .emd file for the P-40N-5 that I've been modifying off archive documents (using your FM fix as a starting point), I am struggling to convert either into usable FM files for IL-2 1946, so if anyone would be able to assist with that it'd be greatly appreciated.

Version 4.09 has code restrictions.
Therefore, some aircraft models simply do not work in this version. It is better to switch to version 4.12, for which there are different engine mods that allow you to more accurately implement the historical parameters of aircraft and weapons.

This contains the .emd and .fmd files. I still do not know how to make these into usable FM files, but if you're able to feel free to do so. They are WIP as there are some elements I am trying to adjust in-reference to archive documents, though my understanding of FM editing is still somewhat crude.

Once I learn more about these FM files and how to get them to work, I can use XFLR and XFOIL to model the airfoils and calculate aerodynamic and airfoil data from it, if that's something you would appreciate.

I see that this is my old 2020 engine.
I fixed 83/85 engines for the P-39 a few months ago.
When I start testing Kittihok, I will fix the engine for him according to the altitude curves according to the documents.
Now I'm finishing the mod weapons - 95 percent ready.
There are several hundred classes, so my eyes are very tired.

Some of the most useful documents I was using for the edited .fmd I provided above were using these documents. There isn't much control surface data or aeroynamics available, so I would have to calculate some of the gaps myself, but check the "P-40N_Specifications.jpg" as the right-hand side of that image has surface areas, I'll list each below...

Wing: 237 ft^2 (22.0 m^2)
Elevator (Horizontal Tail): 48 ft^2 (4.46 m^2)
Tail (Vertical Tail): 21 ft^2 (1.95 m^2)

I can vouch that all the other data I put in the .fmd file I posted above is correct as far as I can tell from my documents and resources available to me. Hopefully, though, this area data will help plug in some gaps for aerodynamic data. If you'd like I could put in this data in the .fmd file myself, just tell me where to put these values.

I do not know what data the [Arm] section is referring to, so I have not changed it so far. Likewise, I have not changed "Keel," "Wing_In," "Wing_Mid," or "Wing_Out" variables because I do not understand what these terms are referring to. If anyone is able to aid at some point with the definition for these terms in IL-2 I can provide what data I have to accommodate for them.

The lack of speed is due to incorrect operation of the screw calculation code in our simulator.
You have to put crutches, it does not always help.
The original Cx for Kittyhawk is about 0.0234, slightly reduced, but not much. No matter how well the formula for calculating the work of the propeller worked in the game, the speed near the ground would coincide with the measurements in the tests of the original Kittihok.

The lack of speed is due to incorrect operation of the screw calculation code in our simulator.
You have to put crutches, it does not always help.
The original Cx for Kittyhawk is about 0.0234, slightly reduced, but not much. No matter how well the formula for calculating the work of the propeller worked in the game, the speed near the ground would coincide with the measurements in the tests of the original Kittihok.

The FM file doesn't seem to be changing anything on my end. I dropped it into my #WAW3/Classes-FM and replaced the old P-40N-5FM file there, but it the engine still seems to max out at 50" and no WEP is allowed. It may be that I'm installing the file incorrectly, but let me know how best to install and test the FM.

On a separate note, looking over the code you put above, most everything is a tremendous improvement over the older FMs. Great work! I do have a few suggestions and I've attached the recommended changes to the FM file...

As you can see this is a little bit faster than the FM file as it currently stands, and this comes from performance reports for P-40N-5s, P-40N-20s, etc. from the Drive Document I attached. I made sure to only include data that is relevant to our Kittyhawk IV / P-40N series of aircraft, as the older data for P-40E type airframes is a bit slower than we may expect. One of the biggest differences here is that those documents I attached mentioned a 576 mph max diving speed (927 kph) which is a fair bit higher than the 780 kph diving speed allowed currently. If there is any assistance you can provide in getting the FM file to work on my end, or any help I can offer in getting more precise data for this model of aircraft, please let me know!
