Author Topic: Cannot get B.A.T Modules to load from Win10/64 bootable partition  (Read 1520 times)

I really would appreciate anybody's help with my current B.A.T installation. I'm certain that I have followed the BAT Install Manual to the letter (and very well written it is too). Following is the steps I have performed:

1. Plain vanilla IL-2 Sturmovik 1946 4.12.2m install.

2. Loaded IL-2 and ran it, no problems.

3. Applied SAS SuperMegaPatch.

4. Loaded and ran IL-2 Sturmovik 1946 with SAS SuperMegaPatch, no problems.

5.  Put All BAT files into a standalone directory and ran BAT v1.0 Setup.exe pointing the output to my IL-2 directory. Successful install.

6. Copied the sample CONF.INI file from this web site and tweaked the [Window] settings to match my screen resolution (1920 x 1200)

7. Tested Stock and SAS Modact 5.30 modules, both loaded and ran perfectly.

8. Loaded DOF and that is when things began to go sideways. The large splash screen pops up, it loads to 30% and then exits back to desktop.

9. Loaded TGA, same result, The splash screen pops up, it loads to 30% and then exits back to desktop.

10. It gets worse. When I select and run WAW or JTW, the small splashscreen appears for a rather long spell and then exits back to desktop. No large splash screen, no loading statistics.

I have tried installing and using BATDLL2.zip. Same results.

Cannot get B.A.T Modules to load

I forgot to add the following:

I am running Windows 10 64bit. Intel Processor with 22GB RAM and an nVidia 960GT with 4GB RAM

My entire IL-2 installation is in a folder in the root of my computers E:\ drive.

I have tried running BAT modules with antivirus enabled and disabled.

I used to have a complete C.U.p installation running perfectly may have been a bit premature to delete it. :-(

Any help at all is greatly appreciated.

Hi Garethster,
I believe several of us have had similar log error posts, and whilst I cannot be sure, it may be caused by class files being extracted into the wrong folders. I had very similar problems, but not as early in the install as you. It could be that you have a part corrupted download too, so the only thing I can suggest might help is check the file sizes under properties, or to try a new one, and a fresh install. Might be worth looking at the ctd posts here too, to see if there's any prior knowledge and fixes. I'm sure there are more tech savvy people than me here, who might suggest different and better approaches.

Thanks for the insight Binks. I have re-downloaded the BAT Torrent file and the SASMegaPatch files and compared them to my original downloaded copies, and sad to say they are identical :-(. Am now on about my fifth complete install, but seem to be making no headway whatsoever. What's really confusing for me is that the Stock and SAS Modact 5.3 modules run perfectly. This one is a real head scratcher, and I think my next resort will be to try installing on a different PC - just in case its a machine specific issue.

I'd try adjusting the RAM setting to maximum allowed in the il-2 selector.

1. Plain vanilla IL-2 Sturmovik 1946 4.12.2m install.

3. Applied SAS SuperMegaPatch.

If you are starting with 4.12.2 there is no need to install the 4.12.2 Mega patch.

The 4.12.2 Mega patch brings the game from some previous version to 4.12.2.

The extra megapatch install is probably not the problem but it may be worth a try to just install BAT on your 4.12.2 without installing the 4.12.2 Mega patch.

I believe that setting the RAM usage to 512 MB, the default setting, offers the best game play.

Did you execute the 4gb_patch.exe before launching the game.  This needs to be done only once after installing B.A.T.

Thanks all for the helpful advice in trying to resolve my issues with BAT. I have used the IL-2 Selector with all iterations of the install that I have tried. I've also played with the RAM settings using the same selector to no avail (it is now set back to 512MB).

Finally out of desperation I copied the entire IL-2 folder to a USB stick and loaded it on to another PC. In short everything ran successfully, including all the BAT modules. So I am left with the possibility that either the Windows 10 O/S installed on my primary PC is corrupted, or possibly I have a hardware issue with the physical RAM installed. I have tried disabling a lot of apps that were potentially interfering with the IL-2 installation, but nothing has helped. The last resort will be to open up the PC's case and remove some recently installed RAM DIMM's. After looking at all the Java "out of memory" errors in the IL-2 log file I have a sneaking suspicion that something is not working out at that level.

I will follow up with further progress, if any. Thanks again.

Thanks Doug, Where would I find the 4GB_PATCH.EXE that you mentioned in your reply above. I don't recall seeing anything like that in the official installation instructions.

Well I tried pulling the additional RAM DIMMS out of my PC and reverted it back to its original 6GB configuration and that has not made any difference to the end result. I still cannot load any of the B.A.T modules on that particular machine. A copy of the IL2 installation loaded up on another PC works just fine with all B.A.T modules. Pulling what little hair I have left out of my head as I type this.... ::(

Thank you Forager, I tried applying BAT over a stock 4.12.2 and get the same result. No progress :-(
