Black Sea map (summer & winter)
« on: February 14, 2017, 04:19:33 PM »

This is the Black Sea map that came with 4.13.1 and it works in my vp Modpack.
I extracted the map files and replaced the stock textures with new ones from cyberolas, vpmedia, Mixx, and Oknevas.  The edmaps are in need of an update so if anyone wants to do that then that would be nice.

I like this map because it includes the large area of Crimea + Kuban and a large sea area.  Sevastopol is more historically correct with a smaller city area and its airfields are correct.  I especially like that the Cape Khersones airfield is included.

Add the following lines to your All.ini file:

BlackSea BlackSea/load.ini
BlackSea_winter BlackSea/load_w.ini

Thanks CT,

Immediately downlaoaded and (uncharacteristically) loaded quickly and without error.
A fantastic edition to the lexicon.

Fully functional with no additional objects in HSFX 7.03.

                  Both Summer and Winter Versions.

                  Thanks for making it available.

(Is there also a winter version by changing the load.ini ?)Kopfdorfer
Ah!  I forgot to add the All.ini lines!  Add the following lines to your All.ini file:

BlackSea BlackSea/load.ini
BlackSea_winter BlackSea/load_w.ini

That will give you both summer and winter versions.  The winter of 1941-42 was a very hard one.
You can see the snow in Sevastopol harbor as the Parizhaya Kommuna fires...

Yeap, 1941-1942-1943 winters was very hard with plenty of snow in december-january, Azov sea was under ice in 1941, so, green trees in winter map - :o
& too much trees & big grass on Crimea-Kuban coasts.
Kuban, February, 1942. Evergreen boxwood bushes on the slopes of South Kavkaz:

& bared trees on the slopes and in the towns ;) (3do trees need to be fixed) :-[

Hi Toobone, I saw your pic links on the other discussion page.
I am a little confused about your comments and screenshots you posted above.
Did you change the map?  Your screenshot looks different than mine.
Below is how my trees look.  My evergreen trees on the hills are green, as I think they should be.  Are you saying that the trees in the city need to be without leaves?    Also, your airfield texture seems to be different than mine.  And it looks like you do not have Perfect graphic settings as I can see green in the background.
I'm sure the map can be improved so I welcome anyone to fix and update.

This is my Kuban winter map experiments, not finished.

Evergreen trees (like Pallas pine in Crimea} are apsent in Kuban.

Yeap.

i5-4670 + HD 4600 only, never work with 3-d NVidia shaders.

Very problematic to fix BS map in real view, maybe imposible: 2 different types of forest in mountain zones: green in Crimea and naked in South slopes of Big Caucasus. As you can see in my shot, Syberolas used right texs for bushs in Kuban, looks like boxwood.
No one green tree in Sevastopol-Novorossijsk in that winters 41-43. All must be frozen in snow, - 15 - 20 by Celsius from  dec,10,1941 till febr,20,1943 (exept other seasons). In winter 1943/44: december 0, - 5, jan - 0, - 8, feb.- 0 + 10 ;)

By the way, regarding historical temperature data mentioned by Toobone. Ice fields in Kerchen Strait and along the coast of Azov Sea make sense in any winter map of this area.

unfortunately, as far as I know, it's impossible to have ice on just parts of the map's water area.  Ice has to be on all water or no ice at all.

Has this been accomplished on any other map?

The only way I can think of to have ice on parts of the water area is to re-do Map_c and make parts of the water into land and then on Map_T put an ice texture on that area.  But then the ice textures would probably overlap on to other land areas that should not have ice.   Seems to me a lot of extra trouble just for some ice - if it's even possible.
