Typhoons over Brittany

I was unsure whether it is the correct etiquette to share this campaign with the community, as it is not my work. I found it lurking, unloved, in my old DBW 1.71 install and decided to give it a facelift for my C.U.P. and VPMedia modpacks. I am sure it was released around the time of SAS~Poltava's original "Typhoons over Normandy" in 2012 and his recent upgrade to 4.12 standards for his campaign inspired me to attempt to breathe some new life into this one.

I have searched everywhere but cannot find the original author to (a) ask permission to repost or (b) afford the necessary credits. If anyone recognises this as their work and if I have caused offence, then I apologise in advance and will remove the links immediately, or I would request admins take the necessary action.

Apart from my efforts at upgrading, I have not altered the original parameters of the missions within the campaign, with the exception of mission #15 which depicts a squadron transfer from RAF Harrowbeer to RAF Thorny Island, in order for the end of the Brittany campaign to dovetail into SAS~Poltava's excellent Normandy campaign. (http://www.mission4today.com/index.php?name=Downloads3&file=details&id=1315). Hopefully, we can look forward to part 2 of Poltava's continuation in Normandy. I have also added in the readme's, for historical interest, a short history of RAF Harrowbeer and 184 squadron.

Lastly, I have provided two versions of the Brittany campaign. This is because the original campaign was built on agraciers Biscay map (http://www.sas1946.com/main/index.php/topic,5314.0.html) and this map features in VPMedia's modpack. For the C.U.P.version, the map featured is tbauchot's upgrade (http://www.sas1946.com/main/index.php/topic,43659.0.html) and, unfortunately, the airfield spawn and target waypoints were misaligned and had to be reworked.

No additional mods have been used in either mod pack, so there should be no need to add any objects to your game version.

I hope you enjoy

Regards

Bergkamp

Hi Poussini.

You know, I searched everywhere through M4T for your campaign, except, stupidly, not in downloads for mods!! :-[ :-[ For that, I apologise and can only hope that I have done justice to your campaign.

Whilst I have not essentially changed the objectives of your missions, I found that on one or two missions the target objective was a bit unclear, due I think to the original map being upgraded over time, and finding the gattack waypoint in an empty field. Also, I toned down the flak. I don't know if it is a 412 thing, but in testing I was getting ripped to pieces before I even crossed the coast! I don't remember that when I played this in DBW.

I changed the operational squadron to 184, which actually flew from RAF Harrowbeer on these missions and fits in with Poltava's "Typhoons over Normandy". Anyway, I hope you enjoy my attempt at giving new life to your old girl and would appreciate any further comments/criticism, which in the long run, can only help me "get it right" in future.

Anyway, enjoy.

Best Regards,

Bergkamp
