Absolutely, in the days before computer aided design you thought of an idea.....built it and gave it a go

I think all the bicycle based a/c are pretty much non starters but the designs incorporating dozens if not hundreds of wings fascinate me

Some of them made it though.............
(Having said that I still don't quite fully understand how Santos-Dumont's 14bis actually works
