Adapting object names

As far as the different object names are concerned, you could use a tool like 'UltraEdit' which can change text of several files at once in one flush.
I use it for deletion of all the duplicated skins that pile up once you have downloaded campaigns from various authors. Then I delete the duplicated ones and replace all their references in *.mis files with the remaining / renamed skins.

This approach should work for adapting object / class names of vehicles, ships ... etc. as well. You just need a list for mapping of old / new names.
