...Yep, that fixed it, removed C.U.P. sounds and used W.A.W. sound set 1...

...
  • Activate "#CUP_DISABLE CUPSOUNDS"
  • Activate alternative soundpack

...I activated #WAW Soundset-02...

That's all good.  These JSGME Options are very flexible.  As JSGME Options write to the Mod Folder these choices overwrite anything already loaded through SFS.

The JSGME Options can be used in any order and do not depend on one another because they overwrite previous options.

Select one at a time is best practice.  Disable the one you are not using first.

Choices with sounds are:

1) Default do nothing - CUPSOUNDS.SFS Mostly OK - Some Merlin issues for player aircraft.
2) #CUP_DISABLE CUPSOUNDS - JSGME - Back to previous sounds, I-16s and cannons not as good but Merlins as before.
3) #WAW Soundset-01 - JSGME -  Decompressed version of New CUP Sounds - Works better all round - Sounds Good - and loads Merlins properly.
4) #WAW Soundset-02 - JSGME -  Decompressed version of Tiger33 Sounds - Works better all round - Sounds Good -  and loads Merlins properly.

So I would generally use either Choice 3 or 4 according to taste.  The Bf109s, for example, sound quite different between these two.

Cloning either #WAW Soundset-01 or 02 to create #WAW Soundset-03 will provide the option to try other soundsets!  This is what we mean by CUP Sound Studio.  This amazing breakthrough will let us try loads of other stuff without breaking the main setup.

Likewise: Expect to see #TGA Soundset-01, #JTW Soundset-01 in their respective packages + Tiger33 Flybys present and a write up reference page on all this in the new CUP Manual V.60.

#DOF sounds will remain un-changed because they are so different to anything else.  This, BTW, illustrates the strength of the different CUP Modules as well.  Maps are dealt with, and not repeated elsewhere, and things like effects and sounds may be tailored to individual eras.

From #WAW Part-18, and with future upgrades for #TGA and #JTW, we will dispense with SFS sound changes and just have the JSGME Soundset Options

Agreed. Knowing such details is always very helpful. Now I'm looking forward to an updated manual as well as trying the current sound options.

Yet again, Monty, many thanks.  ;D

I'm at the CUP pts 17 with my Win 7 set up and every now and then I get a freeze while the battle is moving along.
This time I'm on the  QMB Smolensk Scramble mission.  I just prior to launch activated the Jsgme Vismod 09 & am wondering if, in fact this
vis09 mod may be causing my freezes..  so far without the vis09 mod I can't remember any freezes.

Opps:  I'M flying the Arsenal VG33 1940, a real hot dog..  Also, I just want to make sure that it is in fact that  vismod9   that is causing the problem
and if so,  I just won't use it any more...

Hi guys,

Just want to report a strange sound behavior with the sound of several Japanese planes: Ki-43, 84 and 100 which share the same engine sound.

Basically, the sound is "crackling". It's happening permanently. I don't have this issue with other planes (though they may use a different engine sound). It's only happening with the planes mentioned above. I've tried with the different CUP sound options: I can hear the crackling with default CUP sound and CUP Sound option 1. Sound is normal with CUP sound option 2 (but the engine sound is totally different).

My (wild) guess is that this is caused by the sound file encoding. Maybe the wrong codec or maybe encoded with stereo instead of mono (I understood the later can cause this type of issue).

PS: If somebody can give me the sound file ref., I'm willing to do some testing.

This is an old issue going back to before CUP.  It is easily verified using one of the early restore points, ie: it is not caused by the new sound setup.

It is solved by JSGME applying #WAW Soundset-02.  With Part-18 the new #WAW Soundset-03 is even better.

Thanks for the answer. Strange... I do not remember being bothered that much by this issue in previous WAW parts. I will use the alternative sound packs when fitting.

Thanks again for the answer.

Cheers!

Question : I see "Yak-7UTI & Yak-7v ~ School is in! SAS~CirX", but find only one of these 2 in the planelist (UTI, I think)... what about the other ?
Probably because of the landing gear problem at takeoff (the plane usually crashes at start because legs are misplaced since 4.12) ; I remember that something could solve this bug, maybe from there (Stefan SG's version of Karabas-Barabas and Melissa's Yak-7B Late) : https://www.sas1946.com/main/index.php/topic,14631.msg488545.html#msg488545

I see... so I think this is same problem as Su-26 in JTW !

The UTI is a trainer and is grouped with the trainer and Sport aircraft at the TOP of the Aircraft list, and it works fine.

The Su-26 will be fixed for JTW Part-10.  8)

Monty... maybe I did not express too well. The Yak-7UTI is OK. But the V (the one with fixed landing gear) is not here...

And BTW... good news for the Su-26 !
