...- Activate "#CUP_DISABLE CUPSOUNDS"
- Activate alternative soundpack
...I activated #WAW Soundset-02...
That's all good. These JSGME Options are very flexible. As JSGME Options write to the Mod Folder these choices overwrite anything already loaded through SFS.
The JSGME Options can be used in any order and do not depend on one another because they overwrite previous options.
Select one at a time is best practice. Disable the one you are not using first.
Choices with sounds are:
1) Default do nothing - CUPSOUNDS.SFS Mostly OK - Some Merlin issues for player aircraft.
2) #CUP_DISABLE CUPSOUNDS - JSGME - Back to previous sounds, I-16s and cannons not as good but Merlins as before.
3) #WAW Soundset-01 - JSGME - Decompressed version of New CUP Sounds - Works better all round -
Sounds Good - and loads Merlins properly.
4) #WAW Soundset-02 - JSGME - Decompressed version of Tiger33 Sounds - Works better all round -
Sounds Good - and loads Merlins properly.
So I would generally use either Choice 3 or 4 according to taste. The Bf109s, for example, sound quite different between these two.
Cloning either #WAW Soundset-01 or 02 to create #WAW Soundset-03 will provide the option to try other soundsets! This is what we mean by CUP Sound Studio. This amazing breakthrough will let us try loads of other stuff without breaking the main setup.
Likewise: Expect to see #TGA Soundset-01, #JTW Soundset-01 in their respective packages + Tiger33 Flybys present and a write up reference page on all this in the new CUP Manual V.60.
#DOF sounds will remain un-changed because they are so different to anything else. This, BTW, illustrates the strength of the different CUP Modules as well. Maps are dealt with, and not repeated elsewhere, and things like effects and sounds may be tailored to individual eras.
From #WAW Part-18, and with future upgrades for #TGA and #JTW, we will dispense with SFS sound changes and just have the JSGME Soundset Options
