It seems there is a problem with the italian LaMasa class DD.
problem is the gio classfiles that are in CUP should be the newest ones from gio ... so what you can try is either reinstall as Simon has suggested or try to add a LaMasa folder including the classfiles on your own (not recommended...it might kill other newer classfiles)

Make sure to follownthe install guide to the letter and DO NOT I REPEAT DO NOT OVERWRITE THE WAW FOLDER WITH THE LATEST ONE! if it is a restore point delete the old waw folder and use the newest one! The classfiles need to be up to date and in the right places!!!

OK Griffon, I did as Simon said BUT I did overwrite the WAW folder and I ended up with the same problem. I will now follow your instructions to the letter! Thank you guys for everything! Question is the problem in the #WAW 16C or the #WAW in hte goodies? Or should I use another #WAW folder from say 15A?

I suggest you read again - starting with pt15A!
I just came back from three days of holiday vacation (had the parts downloaded already before we left) and installed up to pt16 INCLUDING the goodie pack!
order was as follows:

1) back up old sfs files wioth same numbers as in the new files and WAW folder (putting a - before the folder works as well
2) extract pt 15 files in a safe place, FIRST A THEN B THEN C, letting each part overwrite each other as wished!
3) copy the whole lot over to game folder, letting EVERYTHING EXCEPT THE WAW folder overwrite as wished (the WAW folder should be remmed out already from 1)
4) check if the game loads - which it did

5) now extract all three pt16 files in a safe place, again letting overwrite them each other in sequence
6) extract the goodie pack, letting it overwrite again as it wishes

7) copy this lot over to your game folder, letting this lot overwrite there as it wishes

8) YOU ARE DONE! game loads fine and LaMasa shows up in missions - why I know? because I put one in the carrier landing practice mission and it happily cruises besides the Lexington there

so maybe check your downloaded files and/or install - the error lies not in CUP but somewhere in your install or the sequence you have installed...

Ok I had it all working but I had some problems that I tracked down to an earlier WAW file so I redid (taking out the files with the Total Modder that I use) After that I got those problems with the LaMasa file, which is strange because it all worked before. Guess I´ll try to reDL some of the files (13, 14 , all 15 and 16 + the goodies) if I can´t get it to work. Thanks again, anyway!

Pay attention with the classfiles..do not use any of the older classfiles folders but only the new ones that come with part 15 and which are located inside the waw folder...

LaMasa as a mod seems to be so important because it contains some the latest classfiles for ships from Gio...if you do not have those waw will crash..it did so for me shortly after being released when I first tried to add some Gio ships...only after installing them without classfiles did they work because waw seems to have the necessary set included already. When you try to add ships the usual way including their classfiles they will cause problems if those classfiles contain some ones that are older versions than the LaMasa ones.
Did you try to add ships maybe with total modder?

CUP is open and moddable.  However it is designed and works as a drop in install with no modding required.  For the vast majority this is good and we test it this way so it works for everyone.

Modding on top of CUP is made quite easy too.  Modding will always lead to the unexpected, crashes, failures, wierd stuff.  That's a consequence of modding and its interesting to hear about people's results and sometimes helpful.

However, please make clear when posting about a 'problem' whether or not you have created the problem.  Most people, who are not in there changing files around, read of some crisis and think, quite naturally: "this looks complicated and doesn't seem to work!"

We accept that people are going to mod CUP themselves and will break it.  That's why we provide the modules and periodically back up the critical mod folders.  So that anyone can restore the install without going back to the beginning.

We spend so much time on the forums teasing out the information soooooooooo gradually bit by bit...  We are thinking "what have we broken? - Where is our mistake?"  The people who make and upload this stuff take a great personal responsibilty when so many others trust what they do.

Its a difficult balancing act. - We all have to be clear and open - In this case you did not begin with: I have been modding CUP myself and...

in short - if it ain't broken.....don't fix it.

IE if it worked before you modded it yourself...you broke it, don't blame Simon and the CUP team, blame yourself, work backwards through what YOU added removing it all, and if your the type of person that blames CUP for your errors I suggest you DONT try modding it

Excuse my rant Simon

This is right IMHO nyali, we really have sleepless nights and can feel physically sick when managing a big addon.  You try to test everything, you double check everything, you explain as clearly as you can then you hit "post" - I absolutely hate the process sometimes!

Of all the things we have done with CUP - understanding modding, clear communication and openess is where we have most advanced.  No criticism intended to anyone at all, we are all friends and we all enjoy what we are doing.  8)

Sorry FlyingH, not a solution for you but a thank you to Father Christmas for the goodies!

I have just been mucking around with #WAW15-16 yesterday and it is gorgeous, the sounds in particular.
I use JapanCat effects on top of it, not sure if some overrides the CUP sounds but boy oh boy, fantastic it is!
The landing gear drop/raise, flaps down/up, touch down sounds are really what I am after: thank you, thank you!
