Yes, believe it or not, there is a new campaign out for "IL-2 SCW". It is called "Battle for Bilbao":



This is a semi-historical, 14-mission static campaign, set in the months of March to June 1937 during the Spanish Civil War, portraying the fighting in the air during the important Nationalist offensive in northern Spain. You are a pilot in "La Gloriosa", the Republican Air Force. You are first flying the Letov S.231 biplane fighter, later the Vultee V1A "Intruder" light bomber. In one mission you will pilot the Lockheed Vega, in another the Gourdou-Leseurre GL.633 dive bomber - attacking naval targets. So there is a great variety in the type of missions you are set to perform. The campaign makes use of CY&'s great C&C Mod, providing for extra variety. So many missions will not be the same, even if you replay them!

The Nationalist offensive in the north, culminating in the fall of Bilbao in June 1937, was one of the most important campaigns in the whole Spanish Civil War. It was very hard fought, and it is uncertain that the Nationalists would have won without the direct support of the German Condor Legion. With the conquest of the Basque country in the north the Nationalist controlled the 36 per cent of the Spanish industrial production, 60 per cent of the coal and all the steel production. The Republic had lost the Army of the North (more than 200,000 soldiers). It now looked impossible for the Republic to win a complete military victory...

PS. "IL-2 SCW" is based on DBW 1.71, but I hope that most of the material in this Mod Pack will soon be available as a special Module in CUP.
