Dornier P.232/3 (Do-435) v1.0

Download

https://www.mediafire.com/?jpgdw1skgwd4h7m

Info:

A proposed late war version of the D-335, with the aft DB-603 piston engine replaced with a turbojet. The intention was to use the piston engine to cruise, and engage the turbojet for combat for extra speed.

Althought this is listed as a "Do-232" (from project P.232/2), it's very similar to the Do-435; it's not clear from the material I have,
but I get the impression it was pretty much the same project.

I've tested this in CUP WaW and 4.12; if people get it working in other version, let me know, and i'll add it to the labels above. IIRC, the FM is based on the 4.101 version, so 4.09 users beware!

Credits:

Based on the stock Do-335, with Lisek's Do-335A6 used as a "base" for the coding so thanks to:

Working in HSFX 7.3 w/DiffFM.  I do have a question though: which sound .prs does the jet use? I'm having a little problem some of its sounds..

Hi.

First of all, this is a really cool addition to the game. Props to you, mikoyan, this isn't a well-known Luft '46.

That being said, I have a question regarding it's performance: Is it supposed to be this sluggish? I can barely get it up off the runway (scramble at Smolensk in QMB, Axis side), and it feels like I'm driving a Do-335A with one engine.

I can understand this, as early jet aircraft were a tad slow and not known for acceleration, but I'm wondering if this is intentional in the FM or if I have some other issue. The only reason I ask is that the I-250 (similar concept) is much more responsive. Granted, it is a hell of a lot lighter as well.

I am running it in a very heavily modded Modact 5.30 copy, if that helps.

Difficult to answer that - I actually used the HeS011 code for the aft, which was more powerful than the Jumo004 engine the aircraft was supposed to be fitted with, in an effort to avoid this.

*However* - when you take off, you are pretty much flying a Do-335 with one engine - as you say, early jets gave very slow accelaration, having quite a low thrust; long takeoffs were common. Bear in mind though the I-250 does *not* have a gas turbine - it has a compressor jet; the compression for the jet engine comes from the piston engine, and not from a turbine stage in the jet.

I do find, when you're airborne - performance is very good; gievn this, and the above,  I think the FM is *about* right.
