CUP & GoG Version of 1946
« on: May 02, 2015, 01:02:55 AM »

Has anyone installed CUP into the latest GoG version of 1946? I notice their version is fully up to date. I am using the DVD version.
I notice in the below topic in this forum that there is a "Direct 2 Drive Patch for all versions" and a request for information if it works with the GoG version, but no replies on that so far.
One person has replied that his GoG version does not work at all.

It would be handy if you could use the GoG version since it is fuly up to date.

I have the GoG version of IL-2 as well as the original DVD version Both work fine.  I installed the GoG version and then used the official patches to get up to 4.12.2 then install all the C.U.P files over it and I was golden. I don't know what that Direct 2 Drive patch is but i didn't use it.

Hope this was of some help.

Does that GoG version of the game work with Win 8.1?  Has anyone tried it?  Thank you.

AFAIK the direct 2 drive thing was (or is?) a different online distribution platform like GoG. so a patch for "direct 2 drive version" is specifically for the il-2 version you downloaded from only their website, no need for it for the GoG version.

you should be able to apply the normal il-2 patches up to 4.12.2 to the GoG version (if it is not already patched up to that version anyway) and then apply the mods from here as instructed.

the gog page lists it as compatible with win 8. not sure if 8.1 is a special case, i am still on win7pro64.

Thanks for the confirmation that the GoG version is good to go. Since the GoG version is now up to v4.12.2 I will use it for my next installation.

good old games dot com (no idea if we are allowed to direct link to commercial websites)

its a PC gaming store that sells old Pc game classics, made to run without copy-protection and problems on modern PCs. they often have good discounts on the il-2 1946 pack, nice way to get a legitimate backup copy or just to have it handy without the original installation CDs :D

edit: didnt wanted to repeat the good info from the post above, i wrote it at the same time i guess. :)

I have the GoG version of IL-2
Same here, I got IL-2 from GoG back in November last year.
You just have to install their main .exe to get to 4.09 (I think) then apply a patch (from GoG as well) and you are straight in 4.12.2m.
After that Modact 5.3 and bring on the CUP packages, good to go !
