Battle of Taranto
« Reply #14 on: April 20, 2015, 10:48:35 AM »

Battle of Taranto:

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
The Briefing: PLEASE READ!
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Date:            11.11.1940 - 21.00h
Location:      Mare Iono / Italy
Armys:         - Royal Navy (RN)
                  - Regia Marina (Italy)
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Available Hombase:      HMS Illustrious CV
Available Planes:
- Swordfish Mk. I
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Gentlemen,
it's time to attack the Italian Harbour of Tarento! Nearly all Italian battleships threatening our convois in the Mediterranean Sea are assembled there at the moment.
As we are attacking in the night we don't have to fear the Regia Aeronautica, plus, most flak stations will be vacant, so it'll take a while until they can fire back. You will have the possiblility to carry flares with you. You will need to use them in order to attack the ships succesfully, as you will face a quite big Problem: The harbour of Taranto is quite small; there is not much space for torpedo attacks... Luckily the Italian battleships are very vulnerable for torpedos, so one might be enough to sink them.
Currently the Italians have three big battleships in Taranto. Your primary task is to sink them!
When you come back, you will have to land on the carrier in the dark. We will see what we can do to help you with this task. The harbour is located in A022/AP22. Our carrier is travelling southwest with 28kph, and will be in AR19 most of the time.
Good luck!

Java_01 (by Gubi):

7 March, 1942:  0900 hrs

The battle for Java is about over.  All assets that can be flown out are moving.  Defend this airstrip, as it is the last remaining fuel stop before Australia.

Protect the field and the poor bastards who are trying to escape Java.  Remember some aircraft are ferrying civilians out.  Maybe even Madam Wao.

Bottom Line:  Everything and everybody are transitting through here to get the hell out of the East Indies.

Combat Air Patrol Gentlemen.  The Tirpitz is coming down from Strausfjorden.  Keep an eye out for her.  I'm sure the Allies are aware.

Good Luck

Gentlemen,

Nearly the whole Royal Navy has been hunting the "Bismarck" for about a week now. Since yesterday our cruisers lost Radar contact. Luckily for us, a Catalina has spotted  the "Bismarck" just half an hour ago, not far from us in Bravo-Whiskey 45, heading north with about 19 knots speed. However, it is likely that the "Bismarck" has changed it course since then.. So you will have to look for it  .. the shitty weather won't help either, but you could be the pilots who destroyed the "Bismarck", flagship of Germany's Navy!

Now, off you go!
And, Gentlemen ... Good luck! You will need it...

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Mission Objectives:
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
To win the mission, you will have to:
- find the Bismarck
- destroy it
- loose less than ten planes
