finsgulf winter and summer map Retextured
« on: April 17, 2015, 11:53:41 AM »

This is my simple retexture of the finsgulf-Leningrad area winter and summer map,it features textures by Compans, cyberolas,Uufflakke and some modified by me.I hope they approve of the use of their textures and I thank them for all their work.I have included some modified winter Highway,Rail and Road textures TGA files in the _Tex/land/winter folder that gives them more of a winter appearance. You don't need to use these if you don't want, just don't install them if you want to keep your winter maps looking the way they are now.As always back up your original folders and files if you don't like this retexture so you can revert back to your original version.   https://www.mediafire.com/download/pywosyg8zwrbbh0/finsgulf+Retextured.7z  I forgot to add the Highcloud2 TGA files to the _Tex folder so here they are, sorry bout that.    https://www.mediafire.com/download/5b0486wf6x53h2d/_Tex+Highclouds.7z

Super!!!! This we really need. I've made some 20 campaigns for this map, that was beginning to look a bit long in the tooth.

Many, many MANY thanks for this Gumpy!  ;D ;D ;D

Thank you a lot. With these kind of mods we can change the "old" look of our favourite maps to replay campaigns on them.

Thanks Gumpy for this nice looking retexturing.
I'd like to combine your map and my realistic Finnish airfields, if you don't mind.

Now I have put it and will test.
If I will see correct Vasilyevskyi island's textures, then I will hold this mod :))

PS: I lived there for 5 months, Saint-Petersburg is my lovely city.

Unfortunately, they are incorrect. Maybe beautiful in some way...
But city's textures aren't historical at all.

Hey Radge,
A suggestion. If you are going to make a critique because you would like to see something a bit different - which is ok if you phrase it politely - why don't you use some specificity of exactly what the differences are , and maybe someone down the road might think :
" I'd like to enhance the immersion of this map and make it looke more realistic. I remember the Radge lives in St. Pete's and suggests that X colours are missing , and Y textures should look like A."
Most of the time modders want to get details as realistic as possible , and are usually willing to use others evidence as motivation for development. Thus was modding born in the first place , as far as I understand it.

I am already looking forward to installing Gumpy's map updates - they have been downloaded for as couple of days already.

Retextured only, not retowned or revillaged.Maybe Kopfdorfer is correct, hopefully someone will take up the challenge one day and enhance the immersion of this map.As far as Radge's remarks go Kopfdorfer,he has the right to express his opinion I guess and if he chooses to use the retexture or not use it I really don't care. ;)
