full deck load request
« on: March 31, 2015, 08:04:58 AM »

Gerax - how does one get that cool full deck load in the picture?  Is that a mod that I am missing?  I only get 4 a/c on the deck and the rest are already flying.

Edit Gerax: I split this posts to have a dedicated thread for this request. I attached the pic Barkhorn is speaking about below.

OK I d/l'd the files but I don't know what the heck to do w/ them.  And are they compatible w/ CUP/WAW?  Any help you can give me would be much appreciated.

I don't mean to speak for Gerax, but I unzipped the download and put the "00_Test_412_Engine..." file in the #WAW directory. Works great.

..what the heck...

strange response.  :-X

anyway: I tried in CUP, had no problems but others reported to have missing sounds. So I would not recommend it when you do not know how to solve this.

And for the install into a 412 Modact: install Antos EngMod and patch
it with Westerns patch following the links I posted and read there how to do this.
its just unzip/copy/overwrite/test, nothing more.

First and foremost: Thanks much, Gerax, for this small but handy mod! =)

I have a CUP install with — if I'm reading the CUP Manual correctly — the SAS Engine Mod v2.7 and Western's patch already present.  But I only got eight planes (two lines of four a/c each) on deck — the other planes being already airborne but with wings folded and engines just starting up(!) — in the "Carrier_multi_Planes_F6F" mission Gerax posted.  I was beginning to wrack my brain, and I had been about to post a question to Gerax about the files needed to get properly-filled-up deck.  But then I thought: what if I don't actually have the very latest buttons (i.e. the Buttons 10.5 Test as posted in the SAS Engine Mod v2.7 thread)?  So I downloaded said buttons file, put it in the right folder (…#WAW/STD/gui/game), and when I fired up the aforementioned mission again, all the Hellcats were on deck as intended.

I added said buttons file to the corresponding #JTW folder (…#JTW/STD/gui/game), but in a mission I'd started building which has three flights of Corsairs and one of Panthers on deck, the Panthers started out in midair with wings folded.  So with a CUP install, for #WAW evidently you just need the 10.5 buttons (under "Date modified" the file will read 10/11/2013, the same date as the filename of the .7z it comes in). For #JTW, however, evidently there's more to it — as far as I can tell, that is — than having the Engine Mod, Western's patch, and the 10.5 buttons. I'll report back once I've determined what #JTW requires to get more than just two lines of no more than six a/c each (on USS Valley Forge, anyway) on deck.

No slight intended here Gerax - just the realization that I don't know what I'm doing.

OK - still at sea here.  So where do these files go?
- Button = ???
- Engine mod = #WAW?
- Western patch = #WAW?

Any specific instructions offered would be most welcome.

Thanks.

buttons file goes in "game" folder (#WAW/STD/gui/game)
Engine Mod goes in "#WAW" folder
Western's patch goes in Engine Mod folder (#WAW/!SAS_Engine_Mod)

Thanks for all of your help guys - I really appreciate it.  I am a Pacific fanatic and want to get the sim to be the best it can be in that theatre.
