Many thanks for these and your efforts to post them.They work like a charm.Much as I like & admire Nick Trudgen's work I was getting a bit tired of them after going thru ( and testing) each download of the 38 part DBW install.I had to do it several times & I saw alot of the older screens!
One simple question :do I place both parts into SAS folder at the same time or just one & then everyonce in a while change over to the other?( I just realized this must have been asked & answered earlier- I'll go back & check  it out.)

Do I just put this into the SAS mod folder? I'm on 4.12. I have some of those screens already.
I pasted both of them in #SAS folder. Didn't see any new ones coming up.

Have I missed something?

Create a new folder "Splashscreens" in #SAS as follows;

IL2 1946 Mod 6.4/#SAS/Splashscreens

inside Splashscreens create a folder "GUI", as follows;

IL2 1946 Mod 6.4/#SAS/Splashhscreens/GUI

inside GUI create folders "menu" and "splashscreen" as follows;

IL2 1946 Mod 6.4/#SAS/Splashhscreens/GUI/menu + splashscreens

Then put whatever backgrounds you want in each folder (just the pictures - no other folder necessary)

"splashscreens" is for when game is loading, "menu" is start menu

Apologies Fadeev, to use this method to change backgrounds for Mod 6.4, new backgrounds must be converted to jpg.

Solved! Thank you! Gerax post very useful. Also need to change names of background files in GUI mod for 4.12 (wide_gui_background_de.jpg - > wide_background_de.jpg,  etc).
